This post really caught my attention and made me think differently. I had been thinking about changing over to those locking syringes when injecting, yet after reading this I plan to keep using the usual diabetic ones instead. Those locking types leave behind about four units of wasted space typically, while the standard ones only have one unit, which doesn't really matter much at all. It also suggests there's even more wasted space in the longer three milliliter needles I employ for mixing things up, since both the locking mechanism and the extended needle contribute extra. On the other hand, during mixing the vial often has suction that pulls out the water trapped in the leftover space, meaning maybe there's not as much liquid wasted when preparing. Just wanted to share what I picked up about markings on injection tools, leftover fluid in the connector, and getting exact amounts based on how factories measure them. The lines follow rules where they track only the portion that actually leaves the tip into tissue, not the full amount sitting inside the whole device.

Liquid reaches the connector and needle first when pulling from a container, before any reading shows up on the body scale. Readings come from the upper edge of the rubber seal on the plunger. Pushing that seal all the way down sends the measured portion out, though whatever sat in the connector stays behind unused. Needle thickness or length does not alter the plunger travel distance for a set amount, since the connector space gets filled ahead of the scale start.

With bottles this connector hold-back adds up across draws, so the container empties ahead of the expected number of full portions. Extra fluid at the end usually traces to overfill from the maker to cover wall cling, or else lining up the wrong edge of the seal and pulling short each time. Tools with the needle fixed in place leave almost nothing trapped. A small air pocket pulled behind the liquid column can shove the trapped bit out the tip.

Cartridge devices require priming a couple units into the air first so the needle fills before setting the target amount.

Grabbing unmarked tools from general online shops brings issues if they lack medical certification. Proper ones follow delivered-volume rules and ignore connector space on the scale. Others track total contents inside and leave some behind, resulting in short amounts delivered. Look for the required certification mark, batch code, use-by date, and sterilization method listed. Missing those means it is just plain plastic and not suitable.

Plunger shape gives a clue to the design. Flat rubber ends line up with medical specs and empty the body cylinder completely. Tapered ends belong to non-medical versions for thick substances and use spacing that does not match standard measurements.
