Summary

what ribbon colors are available or coming soon for the niimbot M2 and how do they work with different label tapes

Users report currently using red, gold, black, black&red and blue ribbons on the M2. Pink, purple, orange and silver ribbons are expected in the future, with purple arriving by end of August. Black ribbon produces strong contrast on colorful tapes. Large solid black areas on labels can cause ribbon breakage for some users.

Right now my M2 has ribbons in red along with gold yet I feel like switching things up. The selection of hues seems pretty restricted though... I keep wishing they'd include brown at some point 😭 Curious what tints everyone else went with?

SlowCinder32archiveJul 23

I picked up a ribbon in black and red, yet I keep wishing for an orange version down the line.

I'm still hesitant to get the M2 because of this detail. I wonder if anybody might know whether something similar could appear later.

I heard from someone that pink purple and orange versions are expected eventually but I don't know the timing.

I’m hoping for additional ribbon shades to be included before long. I’ll check with the relevant contact about that.

Everything seems available at the moment for the blue m2. I can't tell why the printer color would make a difference, but it does.

I'll look into the topic again later on. Should fresh details turn up, I'll pass them along to the group right in this spot.

Device owners have something to celebrate because purple ribbon stock should appear near the end of August. Pink and silver versions are also being prepared, though I still lack a firm schedule for them. Those will become available after a short wait. Any new details will appear right here once I learn them.

Thinking about strips in different shades and pairing them with those reflective projections. Which tones seem to work out best alongside that kind of effect?

LevelPebble75archiveJul 27

Totally stoked for the violet shade πŸ’œ

ClearWillow31archiveJul 27

Yeah I'm with you on wanting stickers featuring those macaron shades too.

BrightPebble34archiveJul 27

Right now I've got a dark ribbon loaded, and it pairs really nicely with those bright tapes meant for labels. The difference between the black material and the vivid shades comes through clearly. I didn't think the result would turn out so well, yet this has become one of the mixes I enjoy using most.

Like you I also wished for extra shades at first but later saw those ribbons are sold individually. So I picked up the black with gold versions to swap them out. A purple version would really hit my budget hard πŸ˜‚ I would grab one immediately if it ever appeared.

This seems awesome! I'm definitely planning to test it out.

Wow, this turned out great! What method did you use to get that big dark section using M2? It came out looking really impressive.

It's funny how tricky it can be to describe this briefly. I'll put together a full write-up later that others might find helpful to look at.

Yep. The strip tears every single time I apply heavy black shading over the label. How do you avoid that happening?
