What was in that vial?

Summary

Why did one vial of retatrutide cause sudden severe nausea, fatigue, vomiting and stalled weight loss while others from different sources did not?

The original poster saw good results from the first vial but strong negative effects from the second, then improvement after switching sources. Participants suggest possible titration too fast, coincidence with unrelated illness, contamination, or mislabeled product. Filtering for endotoxins is discussed but considered ineffective by most. Weight fluctuations are noted as normal rather than linear.

Before discovering this forum with all its helpful details I bought two separate 5mg containers from an unknown single-vial source that included lab paperwork. I started with 1mg during week one followed by 2mg in the next two weeks which finished the first container and things began nicely with steady loss and almost no unwanted reactions. When I tried 2mg from the second container the drop in weight slowed while intense queasiness and tiredness appeared. The week after I used the leftover 3mg and actually added pounds while dealing with throwing up and feeling completely wiped out as if struck by a vehicle. After that I tried 3mg from a new multi-container order and noticed some loss returning along with gradual improvement even though I still felt off. Another 3mg the following week brought the loss back on pace and left me feeling far more normal. This leaves me wondering what was really in that second container perhaps a wrong label or contaminants or something different altogether.

Maybe the second one was fine and my bad reaction happened by chance. I always run mine through a filter to check whether any contamination or toxins might be causing issues. Even though shots under the skin tend to be pretty tolerant I still do the filtering and keep everything sterile so the results turn out better.

Hard to imagine that medication played any part when the scale actually crept up during the illness. Starting out at two milligrams would probably trigger plenty of nausea and wipe out hunger too. Still no idea what the stuff really contained. Could've just been filler that was tainted on top of it.

The issue you mentioned seems worth considering. A few likely causes could explain why products from separate origins produced such different results in how well they performed and how much discomfort they triggered. The second container might not have held the expected active compound at all, but instead something else with its own profile of responses and reactions. Even at matching amounts, that shift alone can intensify nausea or vomiting while also reducing the amount of weight that comes off. Quality could also have been the problem, with lower purity or extra unwanted material like bacterial remnants that set off strong inflammatory responses, tiredness, and stomach upset. Those effects might then disrupt normal metabolism enough to cause scale fluctuations or even gains. Storage conditions matter a lot for these compounds, so exposure to wrong temperatures or repeated freeze cycles during handling might have broken down the material into forms that no longer work or that actively cause harm. Small batch-to-batch differences in the same item sometimes bother certain users too, though they seldom produce reactions this intense. In my own case, moving to a version from standard sources quickly eased the symptoms, allowed weight loss to resume, and restored normal energy, pointing mainly to either mismatched contents or quality shortfalls in the earlier bottle.

I initially suspect a problem with how the dose is being ramped up. Since this compound remains under study, there's no established protocol for increasing amounts, and ideas on that vary widely. It's often advised to begin with a small amount each week and hold there for several weeks prior to any step up. Given that the duration in the system averages around four days, injecting weekly means levels build with each shot. Jumping the amount quickly each time raises chances of adverse reactions a lot and doesn't give the system a chance to adapt. What you're seeing matches typical responses when starting one of these agents. Also, shedding pounds doesn't usually happen in a straight line; for many it's up and down rather than steady. Some periods show drops, others plateaus or slight gains, and it fluctuates even within hours. Folks often recommend checking the scale just weekly, always matching the day and hour. Still, it's tough to pinpoint exactly in this situation because of the unregulated sources involved. Testing a single container from a batch only confirms that one, not the others, so you're assuming uniformity across them.

There are lots of reasons this might have happened, like the item being poor quality, some separate sickness, or maybe I upped the amount too fast. Right now I'm not doing any purification but I plan to look up methods for it. The reason I posted about it is to possibly alert another inexperienced person who skipped the research steps, so they reconsider using stuff from sources they can't verify. Being that heavy at my height made me rush into seeking fast changes.

Yeah that lines up with how I handle things. Each morning I step on the scale but only note and feel good about hitting a fresh low. Daily changes show up yet the overall numbers keep trending lower across weeks.

Yeah getting lighter turns out to be drawn out.

It looks like particular filters are necessary to eliminate endotoxins because standard syringe filters fail to achieve that. Prior to seeing that remark I believed it was impossible to filter them out, however a brief online search revealed it might be doable. Has anyone come across details or a source for filters capable of handling endotoxins?

I don't think regular filtering techniques can handle them properly. Those small micron syringe filters I own manage to remove several viruses yet prove ineffective for endotoxins. It seems like centrifugation is the only separation method that does the job.

ClearLantern81archiveNov 9, 2025

Perhaps the dosing change occurred too rapidly. Quick increases like that tend to bring on queasiness, exhaustion, and even some brief added weight similar to what happened. After the system adjusts or maintaining the current amount over a couple weeks, it generally levels back out.

That was my first thought
