I had surgery and was off everything for six weeks without dieting, then restarted but still can't move the scale.

QuietQuill87archiveMar 5

Any suggestions for a starting Reta dose when coming off 15 mg Zepbound?

BlueWillow27archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @QuietQuill87

They seem different enough that a direct swap isn't straightforward.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @BlueWillow27

In what way are they so different? Both have GLP-1 and GIP activity.

QuietQuill87archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @BlueWillow27

Really? What makes them that different?

CopperMarble87archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @QuietQuill87

I'd suggest starting around 3-5 mg though Reta isn't the same as tirz.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @CopperMarble87

The added glucagon piece doesn't seem like it would change things that much.

QuietQuill87archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @CopperMarble87

Because it's hitting three receptors instead of two?

BlueWillow27archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @ClearBeacon24

It's not just tirzepatide plus glucagon. The ratios and amounts of GLP-1 versus GIP activity are quite different between the two.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @BlueWillow27

That's not what I meant. What's your evidence for the difference?

BlueWillow27archiveMar 5

There's a table on this site and other places showing the details. Trying to find it.

SharpCinder28archiveMar 5

Has anyone tried over 12 mg Reta or hit a stall at high Reta doses? Quick background: on GLPs for over 1.5 years, maxed Tirz at 15 mg and stalled, switched to Reta three months ago now at 10 mg. Regained about 10 lb on the switch but lost 3 back so net down 7 lb. Curious how others have handled it.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @BlueWillow27

I don't see that as actual proof for how to switch or dose between them.

CopperSignal27archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @QuietQuill87

No official conversion charts exist between these. It depends on side effects you had with tirzepatide at current or prior doses. More sides means starting lower. Cardiovascular issues might also call for caution because of bigger heart rate effects with reta. General health and diabetes status matter too. Rough equivalent might be around 8-10 mg. Reta has stronger GLP-1 and weaker GIP so can bring more GI issues. For safety I'd start 6-8 mg but unexpected sides are possible so lower if needed to avoid disruption.

So basically throw all the non-evidence-based guesses in a hat and pick one?

BlueWillow27archiveMar 5

The actual science is happening right here on the site.

Some interface text about lightbox controls and errors.

SlowLedger42archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @BlueWillow27

That's the kind of thing the Reta-zempic type would claim. You'll probably need to ask in the Retazepatide area for a direct answer.

CopperSignal27archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @ClearBeacon24

My estimates were based on the available science.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @SlowLedger42

Without a degree or real expertise in these non-scientific swap protocols it doesn't mean much. Why would anyone treat you as the authority on these protocols?

CopperKettle41archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @CopperSignal27

I saw some YouTube videos and posts saying Reta has more GIP and less GLP while Tirz is the reverse. Just trying to get that clarified.

BlueWillow27archiveMar 5

But my username is Retazempic so that should count for something.

CopperSignal27archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @ClearBeacon24

Not claiming to be a full expert but I have a related degree and have read nearly every GLP-1 paper I could find over years, easily hundreds of hours. So the estimates feel reasonable and grounded in that reading.

CopperSignal27archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @CopperKettle41

I've explained this a few times. All three receptor types play into appetite and weight effects. The binding and downstream signaling is complicated with lots of albumin binding affecting availability. Many online numbers on affinity aren't accurate and most details are in early papers under different names. Spent time sorting through conflicting info. Secondary messengers like beta-arrestin and cAMP drive the outcomes. Tirzepatide was designed with biased agonism on the GLP-1 side.

CopperKettle41archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @CopperSignal27

Thanks for laying that out, I appreciate it.

SlowLedger42archiveMar 5
↳ replying to @CopperSignal27

They're probably just poking at the phrase 'the science' since it often gets used as an appeal to authority without backing. Not saying that's your intent, but it can come across that way to people, like a modern version of 'my dad said so.' You generally seem informed.

Got lucky with no sides at all while titrating up on Reta. Figure my streak will end eventually, and once I begin I'll remember what you suggested. Appreciate you replying.

Running 2.5 Cagri plus 6 mg Reta leaves me with zero interest in food.

Same here, Reta stopped hitting as hard for me. Still only at 4 mg a week after more than a year on it, but adding 1 mg Cag the past month has been great. Most weeks that combo keeps me satisfied for six or seven days, though it depends how busy I am. Any update from you? I checked and you haven't answered anyone yet, just curious.

AmberBeacon59archiveMar 26

Adding my two cents: started 1 mg a week of Cagrilintide on top of 4 mg Reta and it's working nicely. Appetite is well controlled, lost two pounds last week, and even saw an inch off the waist, which feels wild for seven days. Right now the goal is mainly trimming the visceral fat around the middle rather than just scale weight.

CopperTimber49archiveMar 26

On 1.6 mg reta every three days right now. Tried 0.2 mg cagri and it wiped out my hunger completely. Still forced down 200 g protein but it was a struggle. Planning to hold off on the cagri and raise the reta instead, maybe bring cagri back later once the reta dose is higher.

Couldn't reach Most, so I talked to his sister Some, and she said Most felt that way.

BlueAlder28archiveMar 26
↳ replying to @BlueWillow27

It really does. Though the lab coat avatar probably evens things out.

BlueKettle12archiveMar 28
↳ replying to @CopperTimber49

With a six-day half life, why pin every three days?

BlueWillow27archiveMar 28
↳ replying to @BlueKettle12

It looks like this can ease the negative reactions

CopperTimber49archiveMar 28
↳ replying to @BlueKettle12

Cuts the chance of sides way down. Plenty of folks split it that way, maybe even more than the once-weekly group.

BrightMeadow26archiveMar 29

I do 2 mg Monday and Thursday. Misses the big peak but keeps things smoother overall.
