Adding Semax to Selank did not go as planned.

Summary

Does adding Semax to an existing Selank regimen trigger nighttime anxiety or panic?

Several users found that introducing Semax while already taking Selank produced repeated early-morning awakenings with racing heart and anxiety, which they linked to the cortisol rise that normally occurs before waking. Selank by itself was described as very effective at quieting daytime anxiety, but the combination appeared problematic during periods of stress. Lower morning-only Semax doses were tolerated by some without sleep issues, while higher doses or use during high stress produced anxiety-like effects in others.

Just posting this in case others run into the same odd reaction. After two weeks on Selank we added Semax because the first peptide had already reduced anxiety to background levels and we hoped for extra benefits. Once Semax started, the person began waking between four and six in the morning with a pounding heart, mild panic, and anxiety. Selank still handled daytime symptoms, but the same nighttime pattern repeated for five nights. We fed all the sleep-tracker data into a couple of AIs and every analysis pointed to the same idea: the normal early-morning cortisol bump can become exaggerated under chronic stress, and the added dopamine push from Semax may have created a double trigger.

That caught my attention. Both items are still on the way here. What amounts did you actually use and how were they taken?

ClearTimber11archiveJan 29

How much and at what time of day were the injections given?

PlainPebble65archiveJan 29

I have been using five hundred micrograms of Semax in the nose either first thing or right after lunch, depending on when I lift. So far I really like it and have noticed zero sleep trouble. Were you dosing later in the day?

Both were nasal sprays. Selank at four hundred micrograms at nine a.m., one p.m., and five p.m. Semax at two hundred micrograms at eight a.m. and noon.

I tried two milligrams of Semax first thing each morning for five days. Anxiety climbed close to panic-attack level. Work stress was already high, so it is hard to know how much was the peptide. I paused during a trip and felt steadier, though that could be coincidence. Planning to test it again once I am home to see if the same thing happens.

Absolutely not for me. I already have both sitting in the freezer but after reading this I will skip the Semax. Anxiety is already something I deal with.

Two milligrams is a pretty large amount. I only used one milligram a day nasally and I am older with some brain injury. If anxiety is already an issue I doubt it would help.

QuietAlder84archiveJan 29

Looks like I mixed up the numbers you gave me earlier. I did one spray in each nostril of whatever concentration you described.

QuietAlder84archiveJan 29

I did not think of myself as someone with anxiety, but looking back it has probably been there under the surface. Glad I only ordered one kit, but disappointed because I really hoped this would help.

Oh no. My nasal mix was five hundred micrograms per spray made from twenty milligrams in four milliliters of saline. You probably felt like you were on a rocket. Good news is you can dilute it further and try again more gently. Selank might suit you better, though I still prefer Semax for myself.

I will add that Selank by itself took away nearly all the anxious background noise. We were hoping Semax would add something extra, but that did not happen.

A month ago I would have said the same thing about myself. The effect from Selank has been surprising.

GreenMeadow27archiveJan 30

I already have both peptides in spray bottles. Might hold off on the Semax and just try Selank this weekend. My baseline anxiety is already very high and I do not want anything that could make it worse.

I misspoke on the dose earlier. I actually used two ten-milligram bottles each mixed with four milliliters of saline and one spray per nostril in the morning using the same bottles you mentioned. Going to test it again to see if the reaction was just bad timing. Ordering some Selank today once my payment clears.

You can always add more saline to lower the strength, but it is also possible the compound just does not agree with you.

After a week off and letting Selank settle back to its usual effect we tried Semax again, this time at two hundred micrograms first thing in the morning. So far the results look fine. We will increase slowly over the next couple of weeks. It seems that for this person the combination did not work well when stress and anxiety were already elevated.
