Does this tirzepatide dosing schedule look right?

12 replies9 peopleMay 26, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Is this tirzepatide pen dosing schedule from a shop correct or safe for a new user?

The schedule starts at 6.6 mg twice weekly with rapid increases, which multiple people flag as far above standard 2.5 mg weekly beginner protocols. Calculations show the listed units could correspond to lower per-dose amounts depending on total volume and concentration, but the overall plan still appears unusually aggressive. A 70-year-old woman at normal weight is involved, raising extra safety questions. The shop has not yet been contacted for clarification on reconstitution or additives.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Some see the numbers as possibly workable with a high starting weight or multiple pens; others view any such shop product as inherently risky regardless of math.

Exact concentration, total volume, and what the shop will say when asked about reconstitution and any additives.

Nothing here is advice.

A friend of mine picked this up from a store the other day. Does this seem correct at all?

PlainWillow35archiveMay 26

Is your friend brand new to this? Starting at 6.6 mg twice a week does not sound like a good idea to me. The increases also move way too fast. Most people begin at 2.5 mg each week and stay there for four weeks.

The numbers could add up, but I cannot picture what kind of place would hand something like that over.

Yes she has never done this before. I am thinking someone just got the numbers wrong.

SlowBramble78archiveMay 26

Yeah it looks like the math on how much liquid was added or on the dosing steps got messed up. Can she check with the store how much BAC water went in and whether anything else like B12 is mixed in?

We still need the total volume. With 3 ml the first four shots at 33 units would be about 2.2 mg each, then the next four at 37 units around 2.47 mg. That gets through roughly 18.68 mg total. The later 41-unit doses would be higher but would require a fresh pen. The whole plan feels off for a first-timer. Could the higher start be tied to her weight?

She is seventy, five foot eight, one hundred forty pounds, and only wanted to lose a little. I will stop by the store tomorrow and ask them directly.

If it is one pen the total units needed would be over 360, which means at least 3.6 ml and that will not fit. Maybe two pens or a different fill volume. Even then the first doses would still land pretty high compared with normal starts.

I do not know what kind of store this is, but any place running like that sounds unsafe. Glad I went another route.

It is just a local spot that sells peptides right over the counter, basically a peptide store rather than a full med spa.

That whole setup sounds risky and I would never put something like that in my body. Any explanation from a place like that would not convince me.

Right, a normal-weight seventy-year-old goes to a peptide store and walks out with a poorly labeled pen and a fast schedule of unknown strength. Nothing good can come of that. Hope the store gives a clear answer on the concentration.

WarmHarbour28archiveMay 27

I almost had to ask what a unit even means. I only think in milligrams and milliliters. All these different concentrations just confuse everything. My own dose stays at half a milliliter no matter what the strength is. Rant over.
