I considered the situation this way. It matched exactly the result I needed. Air forces out whatever fluid remains after passing the filter material. With no liquid left, air meets resistance and stops moving forward. I had no interest in letting air pass instead. My goal was recovering every bit of fluid. When the plunger started resisting movement, the process had ended.

Does this mean you're forcing around one and a half milliliters of the mixed substance through the filter before following up with two milliliters of air? My own routine runs the liquid through a filter then clears it with air but only using roughly zero point two milliliters.

I aim to recover everything possible, which means going with a maximum of two milliliters when pairing it with the bigger thirteen millimeter filter. Most times I end up using a smaller amount than that. The smaller four millimeter versions also get used now and then, and those take even less liquid, yet adding extra air does not bother me at all. Since the air has to pass the filter too, I like noticing that hissing sound.

Last evening I mixed up a pair of those R60 items again, but overlooked the airspace and went with an extra 10 units of the solution instead. What a mistake. Plus I ignored the overall amount being 62.6 milligrams and calculated from 60 instead. Probably won't change anything noticeably.

It's pretty minor overall, yet the amount trapped inside those larger thirteen millimeter filters reaches seven to ten units based on which one you get. The smaller four millimeter versions only keep back two or three units instead. That doesn't add up to much when considering the bigger picture and extra liquid included, though it could represent a small loss in value if viewed that way. My frugal side keeps calculating the total lost amount across multiple uses whenever mixing occurs again.

People were discussing this topic a while back. It seems with a 13mm 0.22 micron filter the volume held back before flushing comes to roughly 250 to 300 microliters or 25 to 30 units, while after flushing the amount left is around 15 to 25 microliters or 2 to 3 units. I'm not too concerned about losing some liquid but rather that the final amount might come up short when preparing an exact total volume.

These peptide filters work based on particle dimensions, catching things over 0.22 microns such as microbes or certain viral particles. They don't catch heavy metals or endotoxins though. That's why I go for the 0.22 micron ones, PES material which likes water for the fluid and PTFE which repels it for air release. Make sure the filter width isn't too tiny compared to how much solution you're passing, 13 millimeters handles around 10 milliliters fine.

I go with the four millimeter variety in nearly all instances where the amount stays at or below three milliliters. Still, some people treat the size selection as a matter of strong conviction, similar to how they approach BAC.

I hadn't thought about blowing air through to clear leftover liquid from the filter. Instead I tried a method from some instructions I came across that called for running additional solution through it after scaling the amount to match the filter dimensions. Last week was my first attempt and everything flowed easily without any pressure.

Only when moving liquid between containers becomes necessary for adding extra BAC do I bother filtering. Most peptides I go through finish inside fourteen days, so contamination worries stay low. Shifting material into another container whose sterility I cannot confirm would raise those worries instead.
