Summary

user experiences switching from tirzepatide to retatrutide including doses side effects and results

People report mixed outcomes when moving from tirzepatide to retatrutide. Some successfully titrate down on tirz while adding reta and reach better maintenance or continued loss with fewer appetite issues. Others find reta provides weaker appetite control or triggers new side effects like allodynia or diarrhea forcing a return to tirz or dose adjustments. A few combine low doses of both or add a third agent to manage effects.

Considering trying reta while currently using 8 mg tirzepatide. Curious about others' experiences making the switch. What dose were you coming from and what dose did you begin with? Any problems along the way? How did the two compare in terms of pros and cons?

Started on tirz at 10 mg for maintenance after major weight loss but could not drop the final five pounds. Tapered tirz while increasing reta and now feel satisfied with progress. Current weekly doses are 5 mg tirz plus 6 mg reta.

Reta did not suit me well even though it works for many others. It lacked the appetite control I was used to and caused allodynia once the dose went up. Returned to tirz and kept losing while still using 1 mg reta weekly for continuity.

Switching now near maintenance by lowering tirz and starting reta at the same time. Even 5 mg tirz leaves me with no appetite and forces eating. Hoping reta will feel milder and allow some natural hunger while still promoting fullness. Plenty of tirz remains available if needed.

Reta should actually be stronger since it hits three receptors while tirz hits two. Something limited to one receptor like Ozempic might turn out milder instead.

Used tirz from August 2026 through November 2026 and dropped about 10 kg. Moved to reta after side effects appeared when trying to raise tirz past 5 mg. Started reta at 1 mg and increased slowly while lowering tirz. Weight loss stopped at 5 mg reta so tried 6 mg but diarrhea returned. Switched to 5 mg every six days plus 0.125 mg cagrilintide on the same day and added psyllium. Digestive issues are now manageable and the schedule continues for now.
