Anyone international travel with lyophilized peptides? Especially into the US.

Summary

What happens when traveling internationally with unmarked peptide vials, especially into the US?

One traveler brought reconstituted product to Mexico in checked luggage inside an insulin case with no inspection or issues. Others suggest labeling vials or switching to a reusable pen with cartridges to reduce risk. A UK traveler notes recent policy changes now require prescriptions for carry-on medication. Shipping is viewed as safer than carrying by some frequent flyers.

What could go wrong if I try bringing them? Might officials assume plain unmarked vials contain something like fentanyl?

Last winter I carried Tirz to Mexico along with syringes and alcohol wipes. Everything went in an insulin zipper case with a cold pack inside checked luggage. No problems occurred, though the bag was never opened. I finished it there so nothing came back.

At the very least I would add labels showing product details and QR codes, but it still looks risky overall. I fly to the PRC yearly and have considered it yet decided against it. Shipping them yourself or arranging for the seller to ship them would probably be better.

When traveling I will either label the vials myself or switch to a reusable pen and load three or four cartridges to take along.

From the UK side I recently flew to the Dominican Republic. Security rules have tightened so medication in hand luggage now needs a prescription. People I spoke with earlier said simply tossing it in a wash bag still worked, but the new policy likely would not allow that.

Do you take the vials as powder or already mixed?

I plan to get a reusable pen and load it with reconstituted material in the cartridge.
