Found a decent deal locally with labels included. Is it worth getting? Even average performance is fine since I only need very basic labels for now. The urge to collect will probably hit later and I'll end up with a nicer unit then.
Are you thinking of the D110 instead? I own that one and really like it. Straightforward to use and it gets the work done better than masking tape with a marker. A few others here have the same model too.

Hadn't come across that version before, sorry about that. Mine is the lowest cost option but I still enjoy using it.
From what I read the D101 handles adjustable label sizes unlike the D110. It is also bigger and heavier but otherwise functions the same.
For nothing more than simple text it should handle everything you need.
Went ahead and ordered it anyway since it arrives faster than the other option.
Totally understand that choice. Paying a bit more to receive it right away makes sense to me.
Thinking about getting the higher end M2 model eventually. It supports a couple colors by swapping ribbons and refeeding, and the output is said to resist water and fingerprints. Ribbons would be an added purchase for each color though.
The D110 works with slightly smaller label sizes than the D101. It is smaller overall and easier to carry around.

Can it use the small round labels meant for 3ml vial caps? That is how I use my D110, though I have another compact printer for other labels.
Mine showed up today. Already have the D11 along with the M2 so now I need to learn how they work and start making labels including for vial caps.
It accepts the same supplies as the 110. Sent a link to the maker site for the round labels.
Ended up ordering the cap labels as well to match what everyone else is doing. Just one side label feels incomplete. Hopefully nobody checks the freezer before the new ones arrive.
This thread already has me wanting one even though I tried to avoid it. Going to order now. What size sticker rolls work best for 3ml vials?
