Reached goal weight in 19 weeks. What now?

Summary

What should someone do after hitting their goal weight on a GLP-1 medication while still on an effective dose?

The original poster lost 45 lb in 19 weeks and is considering gym work plus another compound while staying on 3 mg. Others report success with maintenance doses between 1.5 mg and 4 mg per week, some keeping the loss dose unchanged. Several emphasize protecting muscle through protein intake and training once weight stabilizes, with one user adding a second agent to control portions during resumed gym sessions. Average weekly loss around 2 lb is viewed positively by most.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether a continued 2+ lb per week loss remains advisable once near goal weight, or if it risks being too fast.

Still open

The ideal long-term maintenance dose and exact protocol for adding muscle without regaining fat.

Nothing here is advice.

Dropped from 205 pounds to 160. Still unsure what comes next even though the current 3 mg dose keeps working well. Thinking about pushing harder in the gym to add muscle and maybe trying one more thing alongside what I already take.

Excellent work, that's fantastic! I stuck to the approaches that had success for me and began going to the fitness center once I sought an additional test.

Awesome, that's nearly the target I'm chasing too. Starting at 199 and aiming for 165, then moving over to a steady amount. I've dropped 18 pounds across seven weeks so far. Right now focusing on keeping muscle while shedding as much fat as possible up to that point. After that I'll gradually lower the amount to allow eating more food and protein which should improve how I do at the gym. My hope is adding five to ten pounds of muscle after reaching 165, which means figuring out how to eat more without gaining the bad kind of weight. I'll stick to clean bulk methods along with reta for keeping hunger and bingeing in check. By the way that profile picture always cracks me up whenever it pops up haha

I've started considering a lower upkeep amount, perhaps around 1.5 milligrams per week. Settling into the right upkeep seems to require some experimentation. At the moment my intake varies between six and eight milligrams.

That shift from 205 down to 160 across nineteen weeks looks pretty remarkable, good for you!! Sorting out whatever comes next honestly seems like the tougher portion.

Comes to two point three pounds weekly. That's ideal in my view.

My results line up closely with those. Reaching the one-sixties took me roughly eight months. I continue taking two point five milligrams of RT. Hunger control has dropped off during the prior month and a half. Greater food intake fits my situation now that workouts have resumed after eighteen months away while healing from harm. I started cag10 seven days back to avoid letting meal sizes grow too large. One or two meals each day is my usual pattern, without any snacking. Fasting suits me.

For the past couple months I've kept my weight steady at four milligrams each week, the same amount that helped me drop the extra pounds to begin with.

By the book the figure is elevated but the subject indicates good health so that makes it okay in my view.

Various elements come into play here. At the outset my progress was significant over the initial period before it tapered off sharply. Perhaps there was some initial swelling that accounted for early reductions in weight, and shedding excess fluid is pretty typical too. In the beginning phase my weekly drop exceeded two pounds yet that rate later declined on average. Things differ when the initial mass is greater since one percent can vary quite a bit from a fixed amount like two pounds. Still I understand the concern about going overboard with speed. Early on I felt concerned myself but things stabilized eventually. Nice work on what you've accomplished!

My own average came out slightly below two pounds per week.

Way to go. Hope you get lots of use out of it!
