Summary

Which supplements actually deliver noticeable benefits rather than hype?

Participants largely view most supplements as unnecessary or unproven, with detox products, megadose antioxidants, collagen powders, and homeopathics singled out as ineffective. A few report personal gains from magnesium for regularity, vitamin D, omega-3s, B12, and multivitamins, often guided by bloodwork or surgery history. Genetic or lab testing is suggested to identify real deficiencies instead of guessing. Collagen receives mixed comments on skin and muscle effects.

I think most supplements amount to marketing that empties your wallet with little payoff. Detox formulas are pointless because the liver and kidneys already manage that. Large doses of vitamins C and E show no real benefit. Collagen powders lack evidence they outperform what the body produces on its own. Homeopathic remedies work only through placebo. Which ones do you actually notice helping?

A major side effect from my medication is becoming irregular. Daily stool softeners helped for months until I tried magnesium powder after reading some reviews. It does not produce the claimed relaxing effect and might be overrated, yet it appears to improve regularity.

Most supplements are useless. A genetic methylation test can reveal actual deficiencies so you only buy what you need instead of guessing with random vitamins.

Blood tests can show what you need. Low sun exposure often means low vitamin D. Menopause may call for vitamin K to support calcium absorption. Little fish intake can throw off omega balance. Calorie deficits reduce intake of everything, so water, fiber, and protein become more important. Collagen has some studies on skin improvements, though many are industry supported, plus limited data on muscle protein synthesis.

Stomach surgery and repeated bloodwork guide what I take. A daily multivitamin seems useful for most people. Extra D3 because levels dropped low. Fish oil for omega-3 though results are unclear. Monthly B12 shots improved my sleep. Certain healing injections noticeably lowered pain.
