Do obese people need higher doses to get results?

Summary

Do people with obesity need higher retatrutide doses for appetite suppression and weight loss?

Experiences differ widely by individual response rather than body weight alone. Several users lost substantial weight on low doses like 1 mg while others saw little effect until reaching 5-6 mg or switching compounds. Titration should be slow, with steady-state effects evaluated after four weeks at any new dose.

Hi, I'm a woman aiming to drop 25-30 kg. Now in week three on reta at 1 mg, I'm curious if heavier people need bigger amounts to notice reduced hunger or effects in general because of body size. Would like to hear experiences and thoughts on this.

I weighed 285 lbs at the start. Kept 1 mg for eight weeks and dropped nearly 30 pounds. So that approach worked for me. Everyone seems to respond differently. Reta also isn't known for especially strong appetite suppression.

This seems to vary a lot between people. One relative began at 0.5 mg out of caution about sides and noticed appetite suppression immediately, losing 30 pounds in three months on that amount. 5'5 F starting at 240 down to 205. In contrast, on tirzepatide I needed to reach 15 mg before feeling the strong effect others describe. 5'10 M from 290 down to 230.

A lot depends on how your own body reacts. I began reta in January and have now lost 42 pounds. Started at 0.5 mg twice weekly and am currently at 6 mg. I didn't notice much change until around 5 mg. 1 mg is quite low so I wouldn't worry much until increasing the dose.

Full build-up happens after four weeks. If side effects are manageable you can increase to 2 mg per week. Hold that for four weeks and check results. If weight is still coming off you can remain there. Once loss plateaus for a couple weeks then raise the dose. 2 mg is really just an entry level so no need to stress yet if results are modest. Some people simply respond less strongly than others.

Keep the current dose through the end of the month then raise on the fifth injection to 2 mg. The key indicator is whether weight changes, but think in four-week blocks because of the half-life. Once you adjust it takes a month to reach steady state so you won't know if it's sufficient until after that fourth dose. Going slow means fewer sides while still losing, and this is a long-term effort.

My wife and I have been using 1.5 to 2 mg of tirzep for nine weeks. At that point we each have about 1.5 mg still in our systems. Results have been excellent with every benefit we hoped for. Both of us lost around 10 percent body fat over those nine weeks. So it seems to depend on the person rather than weight.

The issue is not body weight but that reta is not especially strong at appetite suppression. Tirz is better for that. If suppression is the main goal then tirz would be the stronger option. Many report little suppression on reta until reaching 6-8 mg. At 1 mg you probably shouldn't expect much effect yet.
