Any experience with Epitalon + Vilon (or just Vilon)

Summary

user experiences dosing and safety concerns with Epitalon plus Vilon or Vilon alone

Users report confusion over Epitalon dosing because early extract studies used 10 mg while the synthetic version may require far less; several lowered to 1 mg after feeling unwell at higher amounts. A mouse study showed Vilon increased mammary tumors in a specific breast-cancer model while Epitalon appeared protective, prompting caution for anyone with autoimmune goals. Many ran 5-10 mg cycles without obvious harm and note the peptides are still discussed for immune normalization, yet no one has long-term human data.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

whether 10 mg, 5 mg or 1 mg is the appropriate daily dose for synthetic Epitalon and whether Vilon poses a real cancer risk outside the specific mouse model

Still open

optimal human dosing and long-term safety for either peptide

Nothing here is advice.

I saw decent effects from a short trial of Thymalin plus Epitalon and now want to do the full ten-day run of 10 mg each daily. My partner deals with mild autoimmune tendencies and wants to bring her immune response back into balance. I came across a Khavinson-style schedule using 10 mg Epitalon with 5 mg Vilon daily for ten days and the mechanisms line up, so I am looking for any firsthand reports on Vilon.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 10

I thought there might be cancer concerns with vilon. A paper in the International Journal of Cancer found that Vilon raised mammary cancer rates and sped up tumor appearance in HER-2/neu transgenic mice.

Check the Epitalon amount you are planning. The 10 mg figure traces back to studies on epithalamin, the whole pineal extract, not the isolated synthetic tetrapeptide. People simply transferred the extract dose to the pure peptide, which can make it far stronger than intended. Forum threads show others scaling down after the same mix-up, and I did too; the lower amount felt much better.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 10

I have moved down to 1 mg per day in my own cycles.

CRAP, I ran the 10 mg daily schedule twice with breaks in between. Maybe I will live ten times longer.

On the bright side the rest of my freezer supply will now last ten times longer at 1 mg.

BrightMeadow26archiveMar 10

Did anyone notice intense dreams on the 10 mg shots? I am thinking of starting late March after finishing SS31 and before MOTS-c, but I will stick with 1 mg.

Even 1 mg might still be about 90 percent higher than needed according to the link below.

Looking back at my notes I actually used 5 mg a day, not 10.

Yes, I posted about the dreams on the forum; you would get a laugh out of it.

Even 5 mg could still be hundreds of times above what is required.

Thanks for flagging the cancer data; I had overlooked it. The study actually tested Epitalon, not Vilon. Vilon appears to work through targeted epigenetic reactivation of silenced genes in aging lymphocytes without affecting structural heterochromatin. Animal summaries link it to normalized immune responses and some lifespan extension, and recent overviews frame it more as cancer-preventive than oncogenic.

Some clinics and anti-aging sites still list 5 to 10 mg daily for 10 to 20 days, drawing from older Russian-style schedules originally developed for the extract. These recommendations continue to circulate even though they may not match the synthetic peptide.

For lifespan work the animal doses were around 30 to 40 micrograms per kilogram, which works out to roughly 2.7 mg for someone my size. My family has all done 10 mg daily for 20 days twice a year without noticeable problems. Cancer promotion is mentioned as a theoretical risk, yet Epitalon looks anti-cancer in practice. Any documented side effects?

My earlier cancer comment referred only to Vilon. In the HER-2/neu mouse study both peptides were tested at 1 microgram per mouse; Epitalon lowered tumor number and size while Vilon increased incidence, shortened the latent period, and raised total tumor count.

I was replying to the original post and also referencing separate Epitalon cancer comments; sorry for the mix-up.

Straight answers on Epitalon dosing are hard to find. Early trials used the extract at 10 mg, later ones kept the same milligram amount for the synthetic version even though the two are not directly comparable. Community doses vary widely and none are tied to clear repeat studies, yet plenty of people have used 10 mg without reported issues. I am not advising anyone to start there, just noting the lack of a definitive answer.

That uncertainty is exactly why I have stayed with the higher amount. Lower doses lack solid evidence of effectiveness, many sources still suggest the larger ones, and nothing adverse has shown up. If I am going to the trouble of using it I want the full effect.

BlueTimber78archiveMar 10

Most of those sources are just resellers repeating the same claim without new data, similar to how the BPC-157 cancer warning spread from one old theoretical note. After enough layers it becomes difficult to trace back to any real study.

You are correct that Vilon raised cancer numbers in that genetically modified mouse group. The paper itself concluded Epitalon was protective, that Vilon was not protective in this model, and that the observed increase was specific to these mice rather than a general cancer risk. For immune goals, Epitalon plus thymalin is commonly chosen for normal aging immune systems while Epitalon plus Vilon is discussed for overactive or autoimmune cases.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 10

I only skimmed the paper while looking into Epitalon and did not examine it in detail.

ClearLantern81archiveMar 11
↳ replying to @WryMarble33

There is real confusion in the literature because the switch from extract to synthetic kept similar milligram numbers. That is why some people land on 10 mg without realizing the dose may be higher than needed. My own experience at the higher level was not pleasant until I reduced it.

RustCompass54archiveMar 11

How did the experience change once you adjusted the dose, and what amount would you use now?

WryMarble33archiveMar 11
↳ replying to @ClearLantern81

I would not suggest anyone begin at 10 mg. I tried 1.6 mg daily for six days totaling 10 mg and it worked well with no side effects. I waited three months before considering a larger total amount. These peptides have a long safety record in reports, though fresh human trials would help settle dosing questions.

ClearBeacon24archiveMar 11
↳ replying to @WryMarble33

There are papers on aging and peptides if you search, including reviews and some human work, though most do not directly address Epitalon dosing choices.

WryMarble33archiveMar 11
↳ replying to @ClearBeacon24

Among the references only one review actually covers Epitalon, and the human trial mentioned was on vitamins and exercise rather than these peptides. That leaves limited guidance when deciding between 10 mg and a smaller daily amount.
