Snore No More!!!

Summary

Does Reta reduce snoring and sleep apnea beyond weight loss alone?

Users report mixed experiences with snoring while taking Reta. Several note rapid improvement in snoring and related symptoms within weeks, sometimes independent of major weight change, while others see no change even after months and weight loss. Sleep quality effects also vary, with some reporting worse rest and others better due to quieter nights. Links to reduced apnea are mentioned in trial data.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether snoring relief is mainly from weight loss or a separate action of Reta; some insist on the latter while others attribute it only to pounds lost.

Four weeks into my time on Reta I've noticed a nice bonus: my snoring has eased off a lot. It used to be moderate to heavy and now it's almost gone. I feel like a new person, no more waking up with a dry mouth or sore throat, and mornings feel good. The biggest win is that my wife and kids aren't kept up anymore. Has this happened for anyone else?

Too bad this has no effect on my spouse at all.

My snoring seems to have nearly stopped too, though I figure it's probably just from dropping weight.

Same here, my snoring used to wreck my wife's sleep so badly she sometimes moved to another room. I had booked a sleep study but skipped it once I started Reta and aimed to lose 40 lbs because I didn't want a CPAP. The snoring stopped completely within two weeks on Reta. It had been an issue for years even at times when I was only 10 lbs heavier, so weight alone doesn't explain it. In eight weeks I've also stopped two blood pressure meds and nearly eliminated PVCs, though my sleep quality has taken a hit.

I'm single so I'll never find out if it improved.

Makes sense that weight loss played a role, but the change showed up for me in the first week already. I still think Reta does something specific about snoring. My sleep stayed pretty solid for the first three weeks, solid eight hours without waking. How did your sleep quality change exactly? I did get some air hunger the day after injecting during week two, and drinking more water helped but it still shows up now and then.

My phone logs snoring and after nine months on Reta it was down to ten minutes total last night, compared with over six hours before. Recent trial data also noted less sleep apnea, which probably ties in. Weight loss surely helps too. I used to wake up gasping sometimes but that was usually after heavy drinking, which I don't do anymore.

A galaxy watch can keep you posted instead of another person.

Our bed logs all sorts of data but not snoring. Calling my wife that probably wouldn't go over well.

It was just a joke aimed at the single guy's comment.

I got the joke, I was just picturing how my wife would react if I used that term.

I often wake during the night and struggle to fall back asleep, getting only about fifteen minutes of deep sleep. The watch shows roughly two hours awake each night. It doesn't seem to hit everyone this way though. My wife takes the same dose and sleeps fine, probably because the room is quieter now.

My snoring now registers as light, which is nice, though Tirz already handled most of the weight drop for me. Reta is just finishing off the last visceral fat.

Months on Reta and my snoring is still bad.

Has your appetite shifted? Are you dropping weight?

Appetite has changed and weight is coming off but snoring remains bad.

That's positive at least. The snoring improvement might still show up later. It took two to three weeks for me.

WarmCompass44archiveJul 18

I wish Reta could sort my snoring but it's genetic. I've snored since my teens even when thin, and it continued through my fittest period in my twenties, which also lowered my T early.

Bummer, I'm sad to learn of your issue.

My wife has been on 10 mg of Reta for seven months, same as me, and she still snores.

I've already been on it for months so unless I get below 90 kg I guess it won't change, snoring is still bad.

Way too expensive now. She doesn't check my spending and was open to trying Reta. That's her only real downside, aside from treating me like I was eight again when it comes to watching my health after some serious problems four years back. My previous partner did the same. I think they all do.
