Gelling after reconstitution causes and storage practices

70 replies34 peopleFeb 7, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

what causes gelling in reconstituted solutions and how should they be stored or adjusted

Users report inconsistent gelling after reconstitution, with some seeing none after weeks of refrigeration and others experiencing rapid problems linked to specific bac batches or pH levels. Debate focuses on whether the issue stems from the molecule itself, formulation differences, bac water quality, or preservative interactions. Suggestions include adding acetic acid or filtering, but bacterial risks at room temperature are noted. Third-party data and labeling are compared to research-grade versus pharma versions, yet no storage consensus forms.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

whether gelling is inherent to the molecule or driven by external factors like bac water and pH

Still open

optimal pH testing methods, temperature matching during mixing, long-term effects of adjustments, and overall best practices

Nothing here is advice.

I'm seeing conflicting answers on how to store Tesamorelin once it's mixed. Thought fridge storage for up to a week at 4-8 degrees was fine, but the approved paper says room temperature in a dark place. Wondering if that's causing the gelling in vials after fridge time. Saw a post explaining the issue because this one has a longer amino acid chain than most other peptides people use.

Happened to me last night too. Mixed with a ml of bac, put it in the fridge and it gelled. Added another ml and it gelled more. Planning to do one vial at a time now and keep it out, using 2mg daily for five days then two off.

What about keeping it sterile? Older brand versions said use it right away or toss whatever was left.

Not sure really. Read something saying there were two versions, one 2mg that had no shelf life so it was single use, and another that lasted a week at room temp. I'll try to find that article again.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 7

That report seemed sure about room temp for a week. Not sure how else to handle it unless pinning the whole 10mg at once. I'd use it over five days at 2mg daily.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 7

Found this info but also read that the pharma version has something added to help it last at room temp. Thinking I'll go with 2ml bac and pin 40 units Monday through Friday, will update if I end up with an abscess.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 7

This matches what I'm seeing.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 7

Posted the screenshots and it said the 2mg version uses sterile water while the larger one was multi-dose with bac. Going to try it that way.

SharpCinder28archiveFeb 7

Biggest issue for me is reconstituting at home instead of a sterile lab. Bac water helps but any bacteria introduced during mixing or from the source could still grow at room temperature even with the alcohol.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 7
↳ replying to @SharpCinder28

I hear you but I'm going to risk it anyway. Taking one for the team.

SharpCinder28archiveFeb 7

I'd be okay with up to 48 hours, maybe 72 if less worried about risk. By day four bacteria would hit max growth rate. Never bought any myself and won't now, cycling other compounds instead.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 7

Now thinking about using the vial over just three days instead.

SharpKettle13archiveFeb 7
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

That was my thought after reading the post too. Maybe 5mg vials would work better, use 2mg Monday and Tuesday then combine the last 1mg with the next vial so you get six days at 2mg with only one day off.

QuietTimber26archiveFeb 7

For what it's worth I still have a reconstituted vial in the fridge that's almost two months old and still looks clear. Not using it, just left it as a test.

IronHarbour69archiveFeb 7

Can't wait to see if anyone notices the side effects from using it before it spoils.

WryBramble37archiveFeb 7
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

Starting this approach soon. Makes a case for using larger 10mg vials.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 7
↳ replying to @WryBramble37

Saw a chart posted showing room temp with bac getting bacterial growth after three days. Wish the testing guy would confirm it's fine but I'm going to finish the vial in four days since that's when growth really ramps up according to the AI.

WarmHarbour28archiveFeb 7

So where do the contaminants come in? Wipe the vial with alcohol and put it in a clean dark box. I do riskier stuff than this, usual disclaimer.

PatientKettle74archiveFeb 7

Guess I need to pull the vial I mixed a couple hours ago out of the fridge then.

QuietFenwick11archiveFeb 8

The approved version isn't the same as generic because of different additives affecting how well it works. Generic shows almost no breakdown when mixed with bac and kept in the fridge for 30 days, starts breaking after 14 days at room temp. There's test data on this but can't share the details.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @WarmHarbour28

Going to pin it anyway, like that time with the tren that had cooking oil instead. If it goes wrong look after the family for me.

KeenCompass55archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @QuietFenwick11

What test are you referring to, and why can you mention the results but not show the details?

SlowBramble73archiveFeb 8

Odd because I haven't had any gelling. Must be batch specific. Reconstitute 20mg at a time at 10mg per ml. Only thing noticed is it's a bit spicy on injection no matter the source, but it works well.

QuietFenwick11archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @KeenCompass55

It's a testing group. Results can be discussed after a delay but raw data isn't shared.

CopperMarble87archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

Say no more, use the max dose in three days.

KeenCompass55archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @QuietFenwick11

Thanks for the reply. The rules behind not sharing right away don't make much sense to me.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @KeenCompass55

Because they paid for the testing. If results were shared immediately no one would contribute, they'd just wait. Common to hold results for 30 days.

IronBramble31archiveFeb 8

Never had any gelling over the two weeks I used it. Would adding 0.6% acetic acid help stop gelling? Don't know the right pH, and don't want to toss the other vials. Just got some IGF-1 LR3 too.

KeenCompass55archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @QuietFenwick11

Going back to that point, if the test is right it would mean the commercial product packs it with additives that cut the reconstituted shelf life in half compared to generic. Curious what those specific additives add if the company chose them despite the inconvenience.

QuietFenwick11archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @KeenCompass55

The additives improve how well the active works so less is needed. That's the convenience they focus on, not longer shelf life.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 8

Tried another 10mg vial... it gelled at room temp after 30 minutes even with 2ml fresh bac. Switching back to hgh since it's cheaper.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @NorthThistle70

No, just writing it off as a loss. Glad I didn't get three or four kits.

CopperMarble87archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

I'm using the same source with no problems.

KeenCompass55archiveFeb 8
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

Funny, running the same too and never had gelling whether left out or refrigerated. No idea what's causing it for others.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @CopperMarble87

Mine is from late November. Tried two different bac waters.

ClearBramble58archiveFeb 9

Had three vials from this kit gel up. Tried gentle mixing with 2.5ml bac, different bac, fridge and room temp. The one mixed last night with extra care at room temp is already starting to gel. Don't know what else to try.

ClearBramble58archiveFeb 9

Added 0.5ml of 0.6% acetic acid last night to the one that started gelling and it looks clear this morning. Probably degraded some but seems like it was a pH problem.

AmberAlder58archiveFeb 9

Mixed my first vial from that source with Hospira on Thursday, kept in the fridge since and no gelling at all.

LevelSignal13archiveFeb 9

This thread caught my eye. I've used the compound plenty of times and kept everything in the fridge without any gelling problems at all. Never came across reports of this happening with the material except right here.

AmberBeacon65archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

Did either of those use the same bac as the ones that worked?

BlueTimber78archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @LevelSignal13

When I searched around for info on these secretagogues the gelling problem showed up in lots of places, not just here. Plenty of suggested fixes float around but they all seem to rest on stories rather than any real data, like adjusting pH up or down, fridge or not, or how gently you mix.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @BlueTimber78

At first I tried older bac and it gelled, then fresh stuff and it still gelled. Now with a fresh vial from another maker the material stayed liquid for at least an hour.

BlueTimber78archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

Grab some pH strips, check every bac you have, and let us know the readings.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @BlueTimber78

Hadn't thought of that. Just ordered more of the same bac plus some liposomal vitamin C. Planning to try adding them. What pH range should the bac actually sit in anyway? Also grabbed two hundred strips while I was at it.

BlueTimber78archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

I was going to say around 5.7 but checked first. Measuring bac pH turns out trickier than expected. It needs to be acidic without being too strong. The range listed is 4.5 to 7. For non-standard bac anything near 6 would be fine with me.

GreyMeadow32archiveFeb 9

Has anyone tried filtering the mix? Curious if that changes the gelling behavior.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 9
↳ replying to @BlueTimber78

Sounds like the earlier bac was the problem. The newer batch is the one that stayed liquid so far, and I ordered a few more three-packs of it. Getting proper sterile water with the right amount of preservative shouldn't be this hard, yet some bigger sellers apparently fail basic checks.

RustKettle37archiveFeb 10

Previously got some from a pricey domestic source that stayed fine when kept cold. Just received another kit and plan to mix this weekend. Might hold off on the bac I already have and wait for the new order instead. Maybe the difference comes down to how the preservative in each brand interacts with the material.
