I tried a sip of sparkling wine Friday night and it tasted bad, even though it used to be a favorite. Everyone was passing around a nice red and I could not have cared less.

That is encouraging. I know the fear that your old appetites might sabotage your progress, but you are collecting evidence that you can trust yourself to drink according to your current tastes and stay in a good place. Good personal experiment.

Are you worried since you used to drink heavily? One good thing with these GLP meds is they reduce cravings like that. I still have drinks but far less than before, and my bloodwork looks great.

Before these meds I recall picking a red in France just to seem sophisticated. Could not finish it though since it seemed like vinegar and made me shudder 😂

The first drink after starting this barely got to my lips before the smell and flavor made me sick so I dumped it. Tried once more months later and the same thing happened. Funny that non-alcoholic beer goes down fine but regular ones still turn my stomach. No clue why but I stick to the non-alcoholic kind now and only after a full day outside working on the yard.

Turns out the notion of alcohol benefiting the heart came from flawed data analysis. Every quantity brings some hazard without providing any protection to the heart. The emphasis ought to move toward encouraging reduced consumption over pinpointing an acceptable threshold. That French anomaly fueling the tale of alcohol's health perks stemmed from food shortages around World War II that decreased heart disease risks through less obesity and lower cholesterol across lifetimes, along with many former drinkers in the control group who had stopped because of prior health problems increasing their susceptibility to heart conditions.

Drinking appeals to me quite a bit whether alone or out with others. I stay cheerful during those times and always enjoy myself without creating trouble. Age has made my system handle it worse though. On any diet plan I remove alcohol right away and immediately notice steadier energy plus deeper rest. Once the diet ends I hold off from it as long as I can because routines with occasional drinks form fast. Still a bit of self control lets me cut back when needed. Marking a celebration with a drink feels good since life deserves some pleasure.

I haven't seen anyone talk about how these meds can dull the flavor of certain foods and drinks for me personally. My usual red wines have lost a lot of their appeal lately. Cigars have the same issue now. But strangely, my whiskey still tastes fine. Separately, I'm not looking forward to that long-haul trip across the ocean at all, since it lasts an entire day. The worst trip I recall was a military transport where I sat facing the back in a fabric chair on a cargo plane, using ear protection and eating a packed meal.

unless that person is serving. 🤣

Tuesday featured a girl with striking looks that faded once the dose hit four milligrams. At six milligrams I'm still able to knock back plenty of drinks. The alcohol I mean, not the women. Probably time to raise it again to eight or ten milligrams.

Back from my trip. The wine sampling shifted into an everyday habit yet I held it under control. Glad to note that after returning home avoiding it feels effortless now. I packed my supplements but lowered the amount by half and everything stayed fine. Despite having those chocolate pastries each morning for breakfast I dropped a quarter pound instead of putting any on. We covered so much ground by foot.

Brilliant! Delighted everything succeeded nicely. Good having you back 🙂
