How long until Tirz kicks in?

Summary

how long does tirzepatide take to reduce appetite and when should you increase from 2.5 mg

People report very different timelines for appetite suppression with tirzepatide, ranging from hours to weeks or higher doses. Most advise sticking to the standard four-week titration at 2.5 mg even if effects are absent, especially when mild side effects are already present. Other peptides such as GHRP-2 or tesamorelin can blunt or cancel the appetite effects. Conservative dosing also helps stretch supply and lets the body adjust.

Hi. Started Tirzepatide nearly two weeks ago at 2.5 mg, so that's two injections done. Still no drop in appetite or food noise. Had some of the usual sides like diarrhea and stomach upset but they were mild. I'm also using GHRP-2 plus GHRP-6 and Melanotan 2 right now, and on 150 mg of testosterone weekly. Should I stay at 2.5 mg for another two weeks or move up to 5 mg now to try and get the appetite effect?

WryLedger88archiveNov 28, 2025

The usual plan is four weeks at 2.5 mg. I jumped straight to 5 mg without knowing better and had zero sides. A couple of friends also moved from 2.5 to 5 after only two weeks and had no issues either. Since you've already noticed sides at the lower dose, it might be smarter to finish the full four weeks before going up.

QuietTimber26archiveNov 28, 2025

I'd stay at 2.5 mg and let your body get used to it. Weight loss isn't consistent at that dose anyway. Side effects got stronger for me as the dose went up, so I'd be careful and give it more time.

Appetite suppression and less food noise hit me within six hours. It took six months before I reached 5 mg.

Was the reason it took six months that 2.5 mg was already working for you?

I waited until week four to go to 5 mg and eased into it over the first three weeks. Appetite suppression didn't start until I hit 5 mg, but I was only using one peptide and results differ for everyone. With multiple peptides in the mix I'd stick to the normal schedule.

QuietWillow76archiveNov 28, 2025

I noticed 2.5 mg on the first day.

CopperCompass90archiveNov 29, 2025

Another vote for not rushing the titration. I did 2.5 mg for eleven weeks then 5 mg until I hit my goal of seventy-five pounds lost. The main downside of going slow is you use less product and spend less.

I didn't follow the usual schedule from 2.5 straight to 5. I raised it by half a milligram at a time.

That's fine, but the point was that 2.5 mg worked for you so you stayed there until month six. That's all I meant.

Mind sharing how Melanotan 2 has been for you overall? Thinking about trying it and want more real experiences from people who have used it.

Results with tirzepatide vary a lot. Some notice changes right away while others need more time or higher doses. Side effects also differ. I felt it within three hours and had few sides so I moved up faster over the months. My main issue was constipation. Since you've had even mild sides, take it slow and do at least four weeks at 2.5 mg. You don't have to jump straight to 5 mg either; 3.5 or 4 mg is an option if sides continue. Higher doses do seem to help more if you have a lot to lose, though a few people lose heavily on just 2.5 mg.

I'm a sixty-year-old male, six foot one, one hundred seventy pounds, on TRT. Started Zepbound at 2.5 mg from two hundred one pounds and noticed appetite suppression the next day. It wasn't placebo. Constipation started right away too. My doctor wanted to raise the dose but I stayed at 2.5 mg for three months, lost thirty pounds, and got to fifteen percent body fat. Follow the monthly schedule and you'll find what works. No need to rush.

GHRP-2 stack? That completely removed the appetite suppression I was getting from tirzepatide. It turned my off switch back on temporarily.

Exactly the same thing happened with tesamorelin. It completely overrode the appetite suppression from tirz. I'd bet that's why the original poster isn't feeling it.

Good to know about tesa. I was thinking of adding it closer to goal but if it can affect appetite I'll wait until I'm there.

No problem, with one note. I knew tesa would change how tirz affected appetite and insulin before I started. I used it anyway because most of my fat was visceral and heart issues run in the family. I stayed very careful with eating and it worked for the visceral fat, though appetite suppression dropped a lot. I hit goal, visceral fat is now three percent, stopped tesa in early December, and measurements show no rebound so far while still on tirz now stacked with survo.

Started yesterday at 0.15 mL. Appetite isn't down much yet but I stay full longer. It also makes me use the bathroom more, producing larger solid stools rather than diarrhea. Doctor has me on 0.15 mL for this week and next, then 0.3 mL for the final two weeks of the month.

I'm on semaglutide and it suddenly started working really well around two and a half months in.

You know you have to dose by milligrams taken, right?

SteadyPebble62archiveFeb 12

It was 1.5 mg; the concentration on mine is different.

Was about to say the same. That's the most important thing to get right.
