Any tirz hoppers who successfully switched to reta and lost a ton of weight?

Summary

Can people who stalled on high-dose tirzepatide switch to retatrutide and resume major weight loss?

Several users report breaking stalls after moving from tirzepatide to retatrutide, with steady losses of 1-1.8% body weight per week once reta reaches effective levels around 5-8 mg. Some combine low-dose tirz with reta or add cagri for appetite control, while others note walking helps avoid metabolic slowdown. Concerns about stacking, fibrils, and long-term safety lead some to prefer single agents or view surgery as last resort.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether mixing multiple GLP-1 agonists or adding cagri is advisable versus staying on one compound.

Whether reta alone will allow the original poster to lose the remaining 100 pounds without surgery.

Nothing here is advice.

Been on tirzepatide close to ten months and lost sixty pounds, but hit a stall the past few months. Hoping reta will get things moving again, though still worried with another hundred pounds left to go. Started tirz at 339.3 pounds. Anyone else stalled at a high tirz dose who then switched to reta and kept dropping a lot of weight?

What dose are you on right now and how long has the stall lasted?

On 12.5 mg and stalled almost two months. Planning to start reta this week once the package arrives.

Look around the forum. Not as far into this as you, but I was at 5 mg weekly of tirz and moved over to reta fairly fast, averaging about one percent of starting weight lost each week.

I hit stalls on tirz a couple times too, one lasting seven or eight weeks. These pauses happen. I kept going, raised the dose, and reached goal on 15 mg.

Started at 330, now at 252 after five months plus. Fast one day a week until a pound or two comes off. Currently on 7 mg tirz and 5 mg reta, split across days.

How are you titrating? One 12.5 mg pen left, so thinking 2 mg reta for two weeks then 4 mg for two weeks while finishing the pen, then 6 mg reta alone. Heard most switching from high tirz need around 8 mg before suppression feels solid.

I do 7 mg tirz Friday morning and 5 mg reta Monday morning. Since combining them the weight has come off fast and I haven't needed to raise doses. Same total dose you're considering, just split between the two. Lower doses aren't cutting food noise for you, which is rough. Dose whatever actually works; cagri plus reta gets mentioned for appetite too.

8 mg reta works great for me, strongest appetite control yet. Was on 10 mg tirz split before, which was fine until anhedonia showed up. Now stacking 2 mg cagri Monday and 8 mg reta Thursday, steady 1-1.5 kg loss weekly. Might swap cagri for sema since it's cheaper and cagri hasn't been as strong as expected for me.

On 1/10 tirz level was about 4.9 mg. Started adding 1 mg reta that day and the next, then another 1 mg, later 2.5 mg tirz, and kept adjusting reta up while tirz dropped. Now at roughly 2.7 mg tirz and 5.3 mg reta. Weight down from 272 to 266-267. Added magnesium, cut fiber supplement. Main side is feeling cold more, which is fine. Heart rate variability flat to slightly up, resting heart rate down 5 bpm. Appetite and food noise both flat. Planning another 3 mg reta soon to reach 5.8 mg peak.

What's your age, height, starting weight and current weight? Worth trying, but avoid mixing lots of different drugs. Start with one weekly peptide dose. I switched cold turkey from tirz to reta and it seems to burn more fat with noticeably more energy.

Stacking glp-1s has mixed reports so I wanted to avoid long term. Still, the chance of stalling on reta because of high mounjaro doses worries me; seems common in threads. Either this works or surgery is next.

Don't hesitate to go above standard doses; trials are testing higher amounts like 8 mg sema or 25 mg tirz, so glp-1s look safer than once thought. Gastric bypass carries more risk and horror stories, so treat it as last option.

Heard good things about cagri and even ordered some with the reta as backup. Threads about fibrils and oligomers made me back off completely though.
