Libido fine but other problems

13 replies9 peopleFeb 10, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Why am I having trouble finishing during sex even though libido stays normal while using GLP meds and restricting calories?

Several users report delayed or absent orgasm despite intact drive during weight loss on GLP medications. One person links it to possible mild anhedonia or dopamine effects similar to those from SSRIs, noting gradual improvement over time. Others point to calorie deficit depth, estrogen fluctuations, or overlapping medication side effects as potential contributors. No single fix is confirmed, and experiences vary from persistent issues to slow recovery.

Whether the issue stems mainly from the medication, the depth of calorie deficit, or a combination that will resolve on its own

This topic feels uncomfortable to bring up, but I'm thankful for any personal stories or ideas people might offer. Discussions elsewhere have connected drops in sex drive to both the treatment and the reduced eating. I'm curious whether others kept their interest intact yet ran into trouble reaching climax. The urge and basic function remain, but finishing demands much more time and effort, and sometimes doesn't happen. Has anyone come across approaches that made a difference here? Other threads referenced certain compounds, though those seem aimed more at boosting desire than resolving this specific snag.

Have you already checked whether emotions or reduced appetite might be factors here? I wonder because in all my previous attempts at losing weight, those issues always ended up affecting that part of my life temporarily, either the desire or the pleasure.

It doesn't seem tied to my feelings or anything like that. Actually, my overall outlook has improved a bit after beginning this. The reduced appetite is tougher to dismiss though. I'm aiming for a steady drop of a couple pounds each week and have stuck to that range pretty reliably. Prior to this, I kept up a slower pace of about one and a half to two and a half pounds weekly over many months without running into this problem. These days I'm consuming smaller amounts and dropping weight faster compared to earlier, yet I believe my intake is adequate given how well I can work out, stay energized, and keep my thoughts sharp.

It could be a bit of anhedonia in general. Do you find other parts of your everyday life unenjoyable too?

Nothing seems different to me so far, yet I think a minor drop in interest across various activities might not stand out like this problem does, meaning that's another possibility.

It's tough when things get complicated like that. Lots of different elements might lead to unusual experiences in that area, and folks often deal with several at once, making it tough to single out exactly what's responsible. I feel for you going through it.

Compared to other possible reactions or the condition that would surely appear from continuing as before, this seems like a minor issue. Earlier in life I might have actually wanted to deal with something like this. The mention of feeling nothing much probably has some truth to it. My overall state seems better now though maybe the peaks and valleys have both become milder. I expect things will settle down eventually. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

These meds appear to impact dopamine activity in the brain, linking directly to sexual function. In my case weight loss happened without planning. A doctor gave me an antidepressant that quickly removed binge urges, food desires and the drive to eat. It also left me feeling numb and made it hard to reach climax. I stopped after around three months. Several months after that I began another medication. The reduction in overeating and cravings feels very alike to me. The change to sexual response is milder than before yet there is clear overlap in how both act on my mind. That class of antidepressants is known for causing orgasm problems.

This worries me quite a bit. It occurs now and again, seeming tied to when estrogen rises. Some instances involve short periods of penetration alone succeeding without issue, whereas others go on for more than forty-five minutes without resolution.

I can't say I've found the main reason yet, but things have gotten easier little by little. It used to be hard almost constantly, while these days it's only now and then. Hopefully this keeps improving.

We have a nickname for this visitor who shows up one or two days ahead of the special day. I observe clear changes in my cravings when the low point hits bottom. It's fortunate that I have a spouse who shares in this process too. We work out agreements together.

I can't really add anything except that I think your username is fantastic. You might want to add a toy for stimulation or some kind of visual aids. Searching for smaller doses of certain pills aimed at ladies could be useful because they boost circulation and create swelling around the clitoris. Listening to some old school rock or a band like that jam group might set the mood if the first choice doesn't appeal. Wishing success on the whole genital packaging idea.

During periods when I limit my food intake severely my sex drive seems to decrease so I am considering consuming more calories over several days to check whether anything shifts.

From the looks of your username suggesting an action with moms, I take it you're a guy. If that's the case, did you get in touch with your urologist?
