Switching from Reta to Tirz for Maintenance After Stable Weight

Summary

How to switch from retatrutide to tirzepatide for weight maintenance while hoping to improve heart rate, HRV, or anhedonia?

The original poster on 1.75 mg reta every four days wants to move to tirz for maintenance only. Suggestions include starting tirz low at 1-1.5 mg weekly, possibly overlapping or tapering the reta, and titrating up slowly if food noise returns. Some report tirz gives stronger appetite control and resolves issues seen on reta, while others note anhedonia occurs on tirz too; side effects like heartburn or sulfur burps are mentioned.

Whether tirz will actually lower resting HR, improve HRV, or reduce anhedonia for this specific user

Nothing here is advice.

Looking for some input on switching. I've been using 1.75 mg of reta every fourth day for three months now, with my weight stable for the past month. Planning to switch to tirz for maintenance only. Hoping it will bring down my resting heart rate, improve HRV, and ease anhedonia. Any ideas on how to make the change, or thoughts that tirz might not impact those issues?

Begin with 1 mg tirz for the first shot. If that feels fine after a day, do another 1 mg, then after another day add 0.5 mg. That gets you to 2.5 mg weekly for maintenance, and you can increase gradually later if food noise returns.

Anhedonia is common with tirz too. You'll find folks on the forum trying switches in both directions to feel better. It works for some but not everyone. Tirz appears stronger at cutting food noise.

It caught me off guard how much my hunger decreased. Not aiming to shed extra body mass led me to begin with a minimal weekly quantity of 1.5 milligrams. Heartburn proved to be my primary drawback, prompting me to prepare some acid reducers or similar medications in advance.

After trying both versions myself, using a smaller amount of the first one across four weeks raised my pulse, brought back hunger signals, and triggered stomach problems that showed up anyway at that level. Going back to the other one cleared up every symptom.

Do you think I ought to halt the reta right now and begin with tirz at one and a half milligrams?

Another factor is the constant thoughts about eating. With the amount I'm taking now, I'm able to handle those urges okay. Still, I'm looking forward to getting similar amounts of the other medication and seeing if it cuts down on hunger a bit more.

I've seen quite a few people combine those two medications at once. Since my existing amount of the first one was already working well, I lowered it slightly after adding the second. Some trial and error helped me find the right balance. Still, the second medication by itself handled dropping weight or staying steady just fine.

The shift felt dramatic personally. Appetite distractions returned strongly after starting reta, bringing back every desire that originally led to my problems. Therefore I stopped the trial as results weren't showing up.

The only drawback I noticed from taking tirz came in the form of those foul smelling burps yet the release from constant hunger made the whole thing worthwhile.

I've come across this one occasionally already πŸ™

At the start my symptoms were really severe over several months but once I began daily use of an acidophilus probiotic the trouble stayed gone for good.
