6-day rotation OK with Tirz?

Summary

Can tirzepatide be dosed every 5-6 days instead of weekly to reduce returning hunger without raising the dose?

Users report shorter intervals work well for maintaining appetite control. Several split their weekly amount into injections every 3.5 days or shift to 5- or 6-day cycles once effects begin to fade. Half-life around five days is cited as the reason weekly timing leaves some people hungry again by day six or seven. Experiences vary by individual response and total weekly amount.

I'm on a six-day cycle with another medication and it's going smoothly. My partner uses 2.5 mg on the usual seven-day pattern and notices hunger returning near the end. Would switching her to six days help keep the noise down without moving up to 5 mg? She's fine with slower progress and doesn't want to increase the amount.

I take 3.5 mg every five days and feel good with that. Hunger and food thoughts that used to show up on days six and seven have become much less noticeable.

Six days works for plenty of people, and five is also common. Dosing half the amount every three and a half days is another option some use and it keeps hunger from returning.

A calculator tool can show roughly how much stays in the system when you change the spacing between doses and help you pick an amount that keeps levels in the effective range.

ClearBeacon24archiveDec 24, 2025

Given the five-day half-life, a five-day schedule seems reasonable.

WarmHarbour28archiveDec 24, 2025

A doctor described it this way: the medication reaches full strength after a couple of days, then drops to about half effectiveness by day five. The weekly timing was chosen because it works for most people even though individual responses differ. I usually try to stretch to seven days but often add a small extra amount on day four or five. I'm using 12.5 mg total and asked about moving to five-day spacing after a stall; the doctor didn't see a problem with accumulation.

Thanks, this information is really helpful.

The once-a-week plan seems aimed more at convenience than at the drug's duration in the body. Five days would probably suit me better, but carrying supplies while traveling makes it awkward. I also like stronger coverage on weekends when I'm more likely to eat off plan, and I already struggle to remember daily medications even with reminders. A monthly injection would be ideal.

WarmHarbour28archiveDec 24, 2025

At the start with 2.5 mg I noticed effects right away, though some of that may have been expectation. Later it felt more like a short peak around day three. I could adjust the amount based on how I felt. Progress hasn't been linear and I went through a long plateau, so I'm fairly resistant. Micro-dosing wasn't something that came up for me. Everyone has to judge by their own physical sensations versus emotional ones, which is tricky because the gut and brain are linked.

For three months I used 20 mg every five days without side effects. I moved from seven to six to five days as the appetite control weakened. Once I hit my goal weight I added another peptide at 2.5 mg and dropped to 10 mg per week for maintenance.

I thought the highest recommended amount was 15 mg?

Before switching sources I was getting 16.5 mg weekly from my pharmacy. You're right that 15 mg is the highest amount the original maker recommends.

My partner and I both use 6 mg every five or six days and it works well for us.

What is that other medication at 2.5 mg?

SteadyQuill55archiveDec 27, 2025

I kept my first dose on a six-day schedule and continued that way while increasing the amount up to about 5 mg. Once the strong urge for food the day before the next shot disappeared, I switched to seven days.

CopperFenwick68archiveDec 27, 2025

I inject every three and a half days, Thursday morning and Sunday night. This keeps the amount in my system high enough for the benefits while limiting nausea, constipation, and tiredness.

How much do you take at each of those times?

ClearBeacon24archiveDec 27, 2025

Usually it's just dividing the total weekly amount into two smaller injections.

It's a dual GLP-1/glucagon peptide from China, similar to another one in development.

I divide my weekly total. Right now that's 8 mg per week, so 4 mg each time.

I'm always curious what people mean by splitting when seven days doesn't divide evenly into equal parts.

AmberCompass48archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble78

I spread GLP-1 shots across the week. For example I take 6 mg of one on Fridays and 3 mg of another on Mondays. Splitting doesn't have to mean exactly half or even the same medication.

Learning the half-life and then testing different intervals with a calculator tool gives a clearer picture.

ClearBramble44archiveJan 5

They probably mean one shot early in the week and the second mid-week in the evening, roughly three and a half days apart.

Seven days does divide that way if you use every three and a half days. Other medications are already scheduled that way; my estrogen patch is labeled for twice a week and I do Thursday morning plus Sunday night.
