Peptide Pens vs Syringes: Convenience, Bruising, Sterility and Dosing

The needle itself doesn't bother me much, but I really dislike having to draw up doses repeatedly. With the pens, can I load an entire vial into the cartridge and then just dial up whatever amount I need each time?

Yes. When I increased my dose I just adjusted the click setting and that was it.

The cartridge holds 3 ml total, so you can put in that much bacteriostatic water along with the peptide.

Right, up to the 3 ml capacity of the cartridge. You wipe with alcohol, attach a fresh pen needle, dial the units, and inject. Once finished you remove and discard the needle. It cuts down on plastic waste quite a bit. There are videos showing how to prepare and load them, including filtered methods.

I tried the 8 mm as well and it still isn't foolproof. Rubbing afterward, showering, vibration, different concentrations, all of it. Next I'll test the thigh, smaller doses, more dilution, and the full protocol with multiple pokes. After that I'll probably just accept the bruises as the trade-off for the benefits elsewhere. If this were a relationship I'd have ended it already.

Actually I use the comfort EZ ones for the peptides that aren't in pens yet.

Those particular needles have gone downhill. They used to be much better years ago, so I avoid them now because they come dull.

I might have missed the earlier part, but you mentioned using both cartridge types. Can you explain the difference? I'm running into the same problem where the plug is too stiff for the spring mechanism, so a better cartridge option would be useful.

Exactly. I've only filtered once so far and kept reminding myself that the extra needles and filter aren't that expensive in the end. It still feels wasteful even when the math says otherwise.

That's useful to know. I have two pens, one for each compound, but haven't loaded the second yet. I'll try the next vial in the other pen to see if it moves easier. Bracing with the pinching hand might help too. Having extra hands would make this simpler, though then other issues would disappear as well.

The amount of waste is ridiculous. I don't think the vent really needs its own filter. It seems like they include it just because they sell them. Two filters clogged during the process so I ended up using three. Looking back at what I used to spend on compounded versions makes the extra cost easier to accept.

I went back and forth but decided I prefer keeping the filter on the vent. It lets me tell myself no outside air ever entered the cartridge before I store it away.

That gives some peace of mind.
