Does anybody on here uses ghk-cu with PBS?

Summary

Does GHK-Cu lose its copper properties or effectiveness when reconstituted with bacteriostatic water instead of PBS?

Most users report no major issues reconstituting GHK-Cu in BAC water and continuing multi-week use. PBS is noted in research literature and avoids benzyl alcohol sting for some, but lacks preservatives so requires single-use handling or added stabilizers for longer storage. Copper remains bound in the GHK complex rather than existing as free ions, so typical BAC concerns about chelation or precipitation do not apply. People describe skin improvements such as reduced eczema patches, smaller pores, and better tone after months of use.

I've heard that BAC water makes GHK-Cu lose its copper properties that matter for the benefits. Does anyone know if it really changes things enough that I should switch to PBS instead?

I haven't come across that claim. Can you share the source or quote? BAC water is the usual choice for mixing GHK-Cu. Sterile PBS works but has no preservative so it isn't suitable for storing the mixed peptide over time. Only a strong chelator would pull the copper away from GHK, and BAC water isn't one.

I've used GHK-Cu mixed with BAC water for roughly fourteen months without problems and noticed clear skin improvements during that period.

That sounds promising. What skin changes did you see? I'm only using tirz right now but have been looking into peptides that might help with skin issues like eczema and mild rosacea.

Has anyone experienced oily hair while using GHK-Cu? In my sixties my hair went from brittle and gray to looking healthier yet getting oily by evening.

I also had eczema and the dry patchy areas cleared up. Pores look smaller, tone is more even, and skin feels smoother with more glow.

Good to hear. What starting dose did you use and what are you on now? Most reports are positive so I'd like to try it, but daily injections worry me compared with weekly tirz.

My schedule would probably seem intense. I inject at least three times daily and sometimes up to six. Started at 1 mg diluted heavily to reduce sting but it still hurt. Added KPV which helped a little, then moved to 2 mg split morning and evening. Now I combine with basic and KPV for a total daily amount of 2 mg copper, 1 mg basic, and 800 mcg KPV split into two doses.

Free copper ions react easily and can oxidize or precipitate. PBS keeps pH stable near 7.2-7.4 which limits that and the phosphate can weakly hold copper in solution. BAC water and saline lack buffering so pH can drift and encourage oxidation over time.

That reasoning doesn't fit GHK-Cu because the copper isn't present as a free ion.

You're correct. I didn't realize that. Thanks for clarifying.

Main reasons people choose PBS over BAC for GHK-Cu are that studies on injection use PBS and it avoids the sting. The drawback is having to transfer everything into fresh vials.

I saw the same idea mentioned somewhere. With a 50 mg vial and 3 ml PBS at daily doses around 4.5-5 mg the vial would last ten to twelve days. Would breakdown occur in that window?

The main concern with PBS isn't breakdown but whether it contains a preservative and is labeled for multiple uses. If benzyl alcohol can't be tolerated and the solution will be used over several days, a preserved version is needed. At minimum it must be sterile USP grade for any injection use.

I ran a two-month cycle using sterile PBS without calcium or magnesium. Each 50 mg vial lasted eleven days and eleven injections. No signs of breakdown or infection appeared.

Same here. From what I recall it loses effectiveness after five days and stops working after seven, though that was with BAC water. PBS might slow breakdown but keeping it beyond a week still seems risky. I'd rather mix only five days at a time or split into single-use vials. Did you notice any sting on injection?

SteadyQuill55archiveOct 31, 2025

It shouldn't break down that quickly. GHK-Cu is a key part of one product I use and those vials last around thirty days each.

GreenBeacon34archiveOct 31, 2025

Yeah the sting varies with how you inject. If I pinch and hold the skin on my stomach in a certain spot and go in straight I'm fine. Where did you get the idea that GHK-Cu loses potency after five days? Not sure about those reports. Its whole reputation comes from a Reddit thread with progress pictures of an older woman's results on the peptide. Wouldn't be surprised if she later admitted to getting fillers.

SharpAnchor48archiveNov 3, 2025

Only the copper part breaks down over time, so it turns into just GHK. It still works okay but you miss the copper benefits. Someone from the original threads mentioned it so take that with a grain of salt lol
