Venous insufficiency

Summary

Can peptides improve venous insufficiency or related swelling, especially when weight or glucose issues are also present?

Users discussed several peptides including KLOW, tirzepatide, retatrutide, and VIP for possible benefits on vein function or swelling. One person reported complete resolution of ankle swelling after starting low-dose tirzepatide that lasted a year. Others noted that GLP-1 agonists address underlying weight and glucose factors, while exercise helps pump blood naturally. VIP was suggested for vessel relaxation but with warnings about low dosing and blood pressure drops. Tadalafil was also mentioned for circulation effects.

Has anyone tried a peptide for venous insufficiency and seen real improvement? KLOW seemed like it might help. Any other ideas? High glucose, insulin resistance, diabetes, genes and weight are obviously big factors so anything that improves those would be useful too.

KLOW contains several components that promote angiogenesis which could theoretically improve venous flow but there is no human evidence I know of.

Same here. I was mainly hoping the already loose veins or valves might improve at all.

I take it you are already on a GLP1? I have no hands-on experience that would help directly with venous insufficiency.

This is about my mom who has a serious issue. She is not on any peptides yet and I am hoping to get her started on some including reta.

I had swelling in my feet and ankles. I started 2.5 mg per week of tirzepatide for other reasons and the swelling went away completely in under two weeks. That was a year ago and it has not come back.

Got it. Sema, Tirs and Reta are among the most studied peptides in this area and their effects are fairly well known at a basic level. If she carries extra weight or has glucose issues that would be the clearest place to begin making changes.

Not a doctor and this is not medical advice. VIP relaxes and widens blood vessels while also relaxing smooth muscle so it ought to support better blood flow. Start with very low amounts though. I can only tolerate 5 mcg twice daily and my partner uses 10 mcg. Too much can crash blood pressure.

Right I know that. She has a bit of extra weight but nothing major and her labs are not bad though not ideal either. She already had laser treatment but things keep getting worse gradually so I am looking for ways to help. Thanks!

Has she tried tadalafil? It has a whole-body effect that widens blood vessels and improves circulation everywhere. It works for both men and women.

Besides drugs, rhythmic muscle contractions are the body's natural way to push blood back to the heart and ease pressure on the veins. Walking or cycling are examples. This is not just theory; I notice my ankles swell with too much sitting but movement clears it up. Vasodilation is actually not helpful here because vein widening is part of the problem itself.

Weight loss brings so many extra benefits that a GLP-1 makes sense as the first step for anyone with extra weight or blood sugar control problems. Reta works well but can cause new sleep trouble. If heart or sleep issues already exist then more research is needed.
