Reta effects on talking to women and relationships

7 replies7 peopleApr 20, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does retatrutide blunt interest in women, sex, relationships or cause anhedonia and depression?

Users report mixed experiences with reta affecting dopamine-driven pleasures and motivation. Some notice subtle reductions in enjoyment of food, shopping, beer or social drives without harming existing relationships, while others describe increased focus on goals or later-onset flatness that improves after stopping. Claims of sudden relationship destruction are dismissed as exaggeration, though individual responses vary widely and may tie to dose, duration or calorie deficit.

Have you seen the effects people mention online where reta stops you wanting to talk to women, makes you dislike the feeling from doing certain things, or worst of all wrecks your relationship? Is any of that real? I'm five weeks in at 2 mg.

It definitely cuts the appeal of drinking for my research subject who is in a long-term relationship, yet that relationship itself has stayed completely normal. The changes tie to dopamine reward pathways. I've seen reports of it easing OCD symptoms too, though higher doses risk anhedonia. Everything stays temporary and recovers once use ends if needed.

You're probably thinking of the recent study on GLP drugs including reta that blunt dopamine pathways. The science looked solid enough. I noticed some activities felt less rewarding, not only food, but it stayed mild and I didn't connect it until later. The same mechanism explains why it helps with addictions like gambling or alcohol. The online claims about suddenly hating a girlfriend are nonsense though. Slight blunting might happen, but anything dramatic points to other issues.

I'm wondering about anhedonia experiences too after some shifts I've felt. I'm not as driven or perfectionist as six months ago, though I wouldn't call it full loss of pleasure. My marriage hasn't suffered because my husband is easygoing and already thought I was too strict with myself. At work I'm more flexible with my own deadlines and okay with dropping projects, without any performance problems so far. My online shopping has basically vanished, and if that's anhedonia then I'm fine with it.

On reta I stay more locked on my goals and don't get pulled off track chasing pleasure. I used to love microbrew beers and strong IPAs but that pull is gone now. When my brother offered some new ones it was simple to say no because I'm cutting.

Not sure if reta is involved, but after five weeks I'm feeling pretty depressed, lonely, and suddenly desperate to find a girlfriend even though I didn't care before. I was focused on goals and avoiding distractions until I started the 2 mg dose. Now that's all I think about. I also began 30 mg of accutane one week before reta.

Never heard of that. Haven't experienced it either. I'm on other compounds that keep interest in doing things with my wife and her friends though. Just kidding honey... or maybe not?

Yes it's true. It can kill interest in sex and even working out because it crashes dopamine. I stopped two weeks ago and feel somewhat better. The first two months were fine then it hit. Some suggest adding peptides to offset it so I'm checking that out. Calorie deficit might play a part too. The weight loss is worth it unless you feel flat or lose drive, then stop unless you're single. Not everyone gets this though, and some even feel more energetic and youthful on it.
