Switching from tirz to reta

5 replies6 peopleNov 18, 2025☆ Follow
Summary

How should someone transition from tirzepatide to retatrutide dosing?

One user tried a single 7.5 mg tirz dose after 5 mg with little effect, added 2 mg reta and felt stronger results, then asked about stepping down tirz while increasing reta every four weeks. Replies note individual responses vary, some saw effects at lower doses, and one person tapered tirz gradually to 2.5 mg before starting reta at 2 mg. Another plans a two-week step-down from 7.5 mg tirz plus 1 mg reta down to 2.5 mg tirz plus 2 mg reta. A separate user reported strong results on tirz but weaker appetite control so far on 2 mg reta.

Hi everyone. Last week I took my first 7.5 dose of tirz after using 5 before that. I didn't notice much so I added 2 of reta and the difference was clearer, so now I want to move over fully. Should I drop back to 5 tirz along with the 2 reta, then raise reta and lower tirz every four weeks? Is that the usual way?

I don't really know the best way to switch but I'm wondering why you didn't give the 7.5 mg more time to work. Did the 5 mg ever do anything for you in terms of weight or how you felt? How long were you on the 5?

You took one dose at that higher level and felt nothing? If you've only had two doses total I'd give it time for the effects to build. Even starting at a low dose I noticed both positive and negative changes. Results vary a lot but I hope the medication is consistent. 7.5 mg is higher than anything I've used and my appetite was already reduced well before that point.

I take 7.5 mg of tirz and had my third shot two days ago. I feel very little and I'm still a bit hungry at times. Everyone responds differently. I'm also planning to switch to reta. My idea is 7.5 mg tirz with 1 mg reta for two weeks, then maybe 5 mg tirz with 1.5 mg reta, and finally 2.5 mg tirz with 2 mg reta, stepping every two weeks.

I lost 20 percent of my weight on tirz over nine months. After a three-month break I went back on it and reached 10 mg, which held my weight steady for a few months. Now I'm on reta at 2 mg a week for six weeks and my appetite is very high. I'm waiting for the suppression to start working.

I just went the other direction. I lowered my tirz dose every four weeks until I reached 2.5 mg, then seven days later I started reta at 2 mg.
