Switching from Reta to Tirz due to skin sensitivity issues

Summary

How to switch from Reta to Tirz when skin sensitivity appears at 4mg

The original poster reports painful skin sensitivity after slowly titrating Reta from 0.5mg over eight months and wants to transition to Tirz. Replies suggest either dropping Reta slightly and waiting for the effect to fade or stopping Reta and starting Tirz at a low dose with gradual increases. One user finds the sensitivity tolerable and intends to remain on Reta.

I've been dealing with skin sensitivity problems at 4mg of Reta. Began with 0.5mg eight months back and increased gradually. Planning to switch to Tirz hoping the issues resolve. What's a good way to begin transitioning?

Many people see their skin sensitivity fade over time, so maybe try reducing to 3.5mg of reta for a couple weeks first. I haven't tried switching myself but I've considered it. You seem more reactive than average to reta, so start tirz at a low dose too in case you're sensitive there. Tirz suppresses appetite more strongly, not a direct swap. I'd drop reta by 0.5mg and add 0.2mg tirz in week one. Check how it feels and keep going weekly at similar increments. Tweak as necessary. Appetite should remain similar. Go at whatever speed feels right until you get the outcome you want. Update us on progress.

The skin sensitivity doesn't bother me and my wife feels the same. She can't see why anyone would find it too much to handle. I have no intention of quitting Reta.

A mild version would be fine, but mine is quite painful!

If that's the situation, I'd quit reta altogether. Then begin at 2.5mg tirz, maybe increasing faster with split doses based on how it affects you and what you're aiming for.

Above 5mg I experienced significant skin sensitivity that disappeared after roughly six weeks. Might be worth waiting it out for a bit?
