Ideas for storing 5ml vials

28 replies9 peopleAug 9, 2026β˜† Follow
Summary

What storage options work well for larger 5ml vials in the fridge or freezer?

Users share various cases and custom inserts that accommodate 5ml vials, noting that some essential-oil style foam holders sized for 3ml can sometimes fit the larger ones with minor adjustments while others require dedicated 5-10ml organizers. 3D-printed inserts for insulated jars are also mentioned as a reusable solution. People emphasize keeping vials organized without modifying foam too much and note that vial height matters more than width for stacking.

Show me what you use for storing your larger 5ml vials please.

PatientAlder89archiveAug 9

Thank you. Do the 5s fit okay and not loose in the 10 size?

Good question there. My collection lacks the five milliliter size for any kind of trial. I only keep three and ten milliliter ones on hand. When it comes to holding items I don't see a problem with extra room except if the height gets excessive. Still I can't run any checks on it myself. Apologies.

Grateful for the info!! Got a comparable item and wasn't aware those five milliliter versions would also work. Great! Anticipating the group order where they selected the five milliliter option. The dimensions aren't important since they'll go inside a pen anyway, though I still need to determine good storage methods haha πŸ™‚

I 3d printed a 10ml vial insert for my insulated food jar.

Saw your earlier mention and grabbed one... the enclosure looks solid and the cost worked out well! πŸ‘

It's ridiculous getting those bigger containers at such a cost. The batch I'm waiting on will also arrive in the larger size, while the earlier one came in the smaller version. Makes no sense. I don't mind the smaller containers when they hold a higher concentration.

It's really no big deal, and I'm just pleased to have extra on hand, chuckle. The actual bottle means nothing to me, it's the material contained that counts. Provided I can find somewhere secure to put it away, the issue won't affect me at all, chuckle. I prefer maintaining a minimal amount of the preservative liquid when raising the amount. I've stuck with that particular strength ratio, which is why the container dimensions make no difference.

Do the tens match the fives exactly in how wide they are, differing solely by being taller?

ClearMarble44archiveAug 12

Width is identical between them. They aren't actually any higher so two inserts stack fine inside for the 5ml ones. With 10ml though just a single insert fits since those vials rise a bit above the insert.

LevelTimber64archiveAug 12

Do you store them cold? The shots seem to capture you revealing your hidden supply.

I put my three milliliter versions into the freezer for that container. It would be nice if they match another product since they appear exactly alike probably just a different maker so the larger size works in there.

Yeah no problem. Let me look. No that is the larger vial case with two of the inserts out. This is the 63 vial 3ml case. They fit in the 3ml but not good. I will have 40 5ml vials so I ordered a different one. They fit in the 3ml but not good.

This lives in the freezer. I do not have that many 5-10ml kits.

Pretty sure I can guess the source of what you have there πŸ˜‰ My own should be here before long. Grateful you mentioned this possibility as well!! My partner pointed out that the foam pieces could be slit open a little if it turns out necessary. But since yours is the bigger size that won't be an issue. I'm not planning on making changes though!! Any gaps would simply show I have space left to add more so another order is coming my way ha ha πŸ™‚

PatientAlder89archiveAug 12

Look at that, the heading I put down ended up with the wrong measurement. I typed 5mg when it should have been 5ml. Clearly exhaustion has hit me hard lately. That amount isn't bigger at all, funny.

😁 Think you're keeping tabs on me? Plenty of items seem to move across from that spot. A couple R60 units came via one preferred choice. The pair of R100 kits arrived from another spot I use. Tried adjusting the padding inside but it didn't help. Definitely going to finish loading up these holders for sure. Sitting with two hundred eighty eight of the three milliliter ones plus two sixty three milliliter versions and sixty fresh ones that fit three five and ten milliliter sizes. Four hundred seventy four in all while at four hundred right now. A single group purchase with value on R30 or R60 gives four packs or forty vials.

PatientAlder89archiveAug 12

Turns out I mixed up the R100 reference with T100 after spotting R60 along with the T100 I had gotten. This happened earlier in the week while I was only half alert. I figured the comment pointed to the 5ml GB that comes with R60 and T100.

PatientAlder89archiveAug 12

That is perfect for the two of you. We missed that one and never saw the larger one. Must be a group not in. The smaller ones delivered waiting on some others already looking out for the next.

I keep them in those small plastic containers meant for kits and tuck the whole thing into a larger box that stays in the freezer.

Thank you. I do not think I have that much room.

It arrived in the mail today. This container fits vials of 3 to 5 milliliters as well as 10. Removing the inner pieces makes it work right away. Kept those pieces aside. A pair of kits for 5ml vials are still expected soon. The vacant spots sized for 5ml are meant for them. Cardboard pieces will be needed to create a lift so the containers sit higher. Way superior to the old case holding 63 of the smaller 3ml ones. White tops on the vials are also something I really dislike.
