Been on Reta, stack, or go back to Tirz?

19 replies12 peopleApr 4, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Should I switch back to Tirz or try stacking it with Reta after losing appetite control and gaining weight on Reta?

The thread shows several users who stalled or felt hungrier on Reta after switching from Tirz, with some adding low-dose Tirz back in for food-noise reduction while keeping Reta. Others mention Cagrilintide as an alternative add-on for appetite effects, and a few note they stack same-day without major issues but watch for sides. Experiences differ on how long to stay at 8 mg Reta before deciding and on whether full Tirz return is better than a hybrid approach.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether to drop Reta entirely and return to Tirz alone, keep Reta and add Tirz or Cagrilintide, or simply titrate Reta higher before switching.

Been using Reta now for three to four months and reached 8 mg after coming off 12.5 mg Tirz. Appetite control is missing and I have put on fourteen pounds even though my workouts stayed the same. I am constantly hungry and eating more as a result. Trying to decide whether to switch straight back to Tirz or lower the Reta first and then add Tirz back in. Feeling pretty discouraged. Mid-forties female who dropped eighty-five pounds on Tirz before progress stopped, which is why I tried Reta.

Still fairly new to Reta, about a month at 4 mg weekly after previously using 10 mg Tirz. I take Reta on Friday and 7.5 mg Tirz on Monday, planning to drop the Tirz to 5 mg. The Tirz keeps the strong appetite suppression I like while offsetting the increased hunger from Reta. No bad reactions so far and the combination feels workable.

How long have you been sitting at 8 mg? That dose often starts to bring noticeable food suppression for many people. Reta and Tirz give different kinds of suppression though, and since you already know how each one affects you, adding a bit of Tirz back on top of the Reta seems reasonable to test. Something like 5-7 mg Tirz might be enough. I began with Tirz, gradually brought Reta in, and kept a smaller Tirz dose for the noise reduction effect. Good luck.

Almost eight weeks at that dose. Checking my logs shows it has actually been five months total on Reta. Thanks for the input. I have not come across much on combining Reta and Tirz, so I am trying to find more details on how to set it up. We are in the grey area here, and stacking is new territory for me even though it seems common for others. I did not fully appreciate how complete the zero food noise was on Tirz until it was gone.

Considering a stack as well. I have not been very consistent with the Reta though. Appetite suppression is present but weaker even at 12 mg, and higher doses leave me too tired. I have gained about seven pounds over the past five months. Still deciding between going back to Tirz only or trying the combination.

You kept the Tirz at a dose you could handle while slowly adding Reta, and now you run a full clinical dose of Reta plus a small Tirz amount? That is close to what I am thinking about, especially given the side effects I have had with each one separately.

You might look at adding Cagrilintide if you can handle the wait for delivery. It pairs well with Reta where appetite control is weaker. It helped me, but I eventually returned to Tirz after developing allodynia that may have come from raising Reta too fast.

Mind if I ask what prompted the switch? Reta is still fairly new and a lot of people are trying it, but if Tirz was working well why not just go back? Plenty of people on forums are stacking the two, or you could add Cagrilintide for the appetite piece.

I will look into that option. What weekly amount of Cagrilintide are you using? Same day or staggered? I moved up on Reta very gradually and have not run into side effects.

Started Cagrilintide low at 0.4 mg because of how potent people said it was. Now around 2 mg weekly but split into smaller doses. I seem to be a modest responder. No clear bad effects except maybe some fatigue, which I prefer over allodynia. Since I am retired I can nap if needed. Checking individual accounts on forums can give more dosing examples.

I had reached 12.5 mg Tirz and the scale stopped moving. Took a break from strict calorie control to see if that would restart progress but it did not. I also doubt I would tolerate anything above 12.5 mg. Around then I had Covid followed by shingles, which might be unrelated. Once weight loss stalled I looked for other options. So far Tirz took off eighty-five pounds and I still have roughly forty left. Mid-forties female, fairly active with cycling, hiking, weights, and regular heavy lifting. The final stretch matters a lot. The worry is that returning to Tirz alone might just stall me again. Should I keep Reta and add Tirz, or try something like Cagrilintide instead? I have only ever used one peptide at a time, so the whole idea of stacking leaves me unsure how to proceed.

Planning to research Cagrilintide tonight. I had only been thinking about Tirz since that is what I came from, but if others are getting results with Cagrilintide I will look into it too.

That is a long stretch at 8 mg, so you should already know what that dose does for you. I still think adding Tirz back is worth trying. Cagrilintide does get mentioned often for food-noise control and it works for some, but since you already know how your body handles Tirz it might be simpler to go with that and avoid the indecision. Every body is different, yet the current mix is working well for me and I will only change if sides become too much. The allodynia comes and goes but I am willing to manage it until goal, then figure out maintenance doses of one or both.

A more cautious starting amount for Cagrilintide is 250 mcg or 300 mcg. One study showed weight-loss effects even at the lowest tested dose of 300 mcg weekly, with three percent loss at that level versus nearly eight percent at 4.5 mg.

WryBramble37archiveApr 6

Too bad the Reta is not working for you yet. With no side effects I would keep increasing the dose. Reta and Tirz are not equivalent on a milligram basis so do not get stuck comparing the numbers directly.

ClearMeadow52archiveApr 19

Is it possible to take Tirz and Reta on the same day? I know most people avoid it, but can it be done?

NorthKettle44archiveApr 19

Yes, you can. I am sure I do not need to explain why most choose not to.

Since moving from Tirz to Reta I have used Tirz six times for a total of 14 mg. Four of those six times were on the same day as Reta, and two of those four were at the exact same time. No obvious reason it would be a problem other than not having a clear overall plan for the doses.

NorthKettle44archiveApr 19

Mainly the higher chance of sides, and if sides appear you cannot easily tell which compound caused them.

BlueCinder70archiveApr 21

Completely wiping out hunger is probably not ideal. The point of Reta is that you can still eat enough to stay energized, perform well, and hold on to muscle. If you stop eating you lose overall weight, not just fat. Reta lowers food noise while supporting diet and training, plus the glucagon effect helps with carb use. If appetite suppression is the only goal then switch to Tirz. If you want quality weight loss, adjust food and training and stay on Reta. Splitting the dose across three days per week can stretch the appetite effect longer.
