What do you really gain from low dose HGH?

12 replies10 peopleMar 28, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

What actual benefits come from using very low doses of HGH like 0.5-2 IU daily, especially for older adults?

Users debate whether low-dose HGH provides meaningful anti-aging, skin, or hair effects or if it mainly risks pushing IGF-1 too high. Some report noticeable hair improvements and elevated IGF-1 even at 1.5-2 IU, while others note that age-adjusted dosing curves make these amounts significant for older people. Cycling is generally discouraged because natural production shuts down quickly and benefits require months of steady use.

Lots of people between thirty and sixty-five take half to two units of HGH every day yet I don't see the point. At those amounts the sleep and muscle effects are barely there, though it varies, and most only notice anything around three or four units. The ones on low doses always mention skin health, hair health, and anti-aging, but GHKCU can do similar things for less money and with fewer sides. I might be missing the real reason to use such small amounts.

Those graphs for amounts fall with greater age. So yeah part of it escapes your notice.

After running 1.5 units a day at age fifty-eight I had IGF-1 checked and it came back fifty nanomoles per liter against a mean of twenty, roughly five standard deviations above normal and in potential acromegaly territory. Staying there long term is not safe at all. So even these low doses can push levels too high.

That only happens when anabolics and insulin are also in the mix. People with HIV take a standard eighteen units every day. Did they turn into giants? No. Your take is driven by fear. Other issues only start above eight units a day once testosterone is added too. Without testosterone there is no need to go that high. Acromegaly though, no.

I also got bloodwork while on two units daily and landed at thirty-three nanomoles per liter. Daily headaches showed up at that dose so I took a break. I plan to restart soon but maybe at just half a unit. I'm in my early forties and female, and my hair became really lush from the HGH. A few cycles of GLOW two years ago helped but the growth from HGH was way more obvious. Still, GLOW seemed better for my skin and gave a more hydrated look.

Fifty is very low, right? Am I missing something. Before starting at fifty-nine mine came in at one hundred nanograms per milliliter with a typical range of sixty-eight to two hundred forty-seven.

Fifty nanomoles per liter works out to roughly three hundred eighty-three nanograms per milliliter.

Random note, but IGF labs are really useful when a stack might also include tesamorelin because that adds another boost to the levels. Even low doses can push readings outside a safe long-term zone. HGH is very well studied so most questions have some reference available. It pairs well with reta in my stack with both counterbalancing and synergistic effects.

I didn't know that, thanks. I was just thinking this kind of dose would only get you to around four hundred nanograms per milliliter but after your reply I checked and that is a lot for a fifty-year-old.

I'm wondering if using it off and on a few times each year in short runs would help my skin or hair at all.

There is a solid study on low-dose HGH for older men.

That approach is generally not advisable based on what I have read. It is more of a long-haul type of medication. Benefits do not really appear until three to six months of use. Natural production also stops within a couple of weeks once you start taking it from outside, so cycling can leave you crashed because many body functions depend on GH and IGF-1. You would probably be better off cycling tesa or CJC to raise natural output if you do not want ongoing support. I have no personal experience, only what others have said and the research I have looked at. I am switching from tesa and ipa cycles to straight HGH therapy once my order arrives, so I have been researching it a lot lately.
