I’m at the dose where side effects start

Summary

stomach pain appearing only after months on tirzepatide and major weight loss

The original poster reports losing 32 pounds since starting tirzepatide in late January, with only mild occasional stomach pain that began at higher doses. Other participants note that typical GI side effects peak early during dose increases rather than appearing later, and question whether the pain is medication-related. The poster describes the discomfort as brief flashes rather than constant, says it is tolerable given the results, and plans to increase to 10 mg.

Honestly it is not that bad, just some stomach pain now and then, and it is worth it because I have lost 32 pounds already. Without this I probably would have gained 32 pounds instead.

I lack enough specifics here to offer any real input on amounts, though nothing prevents holding off on the next intake until reactions calm down or taking less instead.

How fast exactly did those pounds disappear from your body? Something besides your belly might explain it.

Usually those reactions get milder with continued use and happen when beginning or increasing the dosage, instead of appearing after already shedding 32 pounds. Having dropped that much weight means the treatment has been ongoing for a while. Additional information could clarify things, such as the exact glp-1 being taken, the dosage level, the length of time the abdominal discomfort has lasted, and its precise spot.

I was considering if he might have a stomach ulcer, yet without details on the discomfort's type or position in the abdomen, it's difficult to speculate. Research indicates the highest digestive issues occur between two and four months into treatment during dose escalation, allowing for a possible thirty-two pound reduction over that period at roughly one kilogram monthly, though having no issues initially followed by sudden abdominal discomfort after four months as the sole problem seems atypical.

I doubt the worst stomach troubles show up after several months on this drug. From the study charts I've looked at, most of those effects hit hardest right when people begin. Nausea and loose stools both seem to ease up steadily, while throwing up stays inconsistent. Maybe the folks who keep getting sick are the same ones who never shake it. My own blocked-up feeling has stuck around the whole time. Still, the notion that problems build to a high point later with nothing beforehand just doesn't line up with those numbers.

Recalling a chart from memory in some paper that rose to a wide maximum around two to four months before falling again and covered nausea or vomiting. That came from studies a couple years back so chances of tracking it down again seem low and would mean scanning through lots of papers. Back then I was still taking the medication and dealing with nausea that kept hanging around. The figures shown here appear much more thorough and detailed than my hazy recollection of the shape from a single study plus a short note on when side effects occurred. I am always pleased when solid numbers turn up even if that shows my earlier recall was off and lets me fix gaps in what I remember. Since I do not actually treat patients a loose but mostly right memory of what I have seen usually works fine yet after going over hundreds of papers across years mistakes build up and older findings get left behind. Citing sources for every point would make everything exact but would require far more effort. I am curious about the time patterns in the figures. I checked the supplementary materials and looked at the notes under the plots. Dosing began at the lowest level and stepped up every four weeks. Still unclear if the highest dose plot begins at the very start or only once that level was reached. It would not make sense for the plot to begin only at the top dose yet I expected the side effects to spread more across time as levels rose and maybe show bumps at each step up. For nausea and loose stools unlike vomiting the pattern looks stretched out as far as twenty four weeks for the middle dose and somewhat longer for the top one. Even so the greatest chance of digestive issues shows up right after the first dose. That detail is helpful and runs counter to what I said before since it points to early reactions possibly signaling later ones.

I kicked things off January 22. The eight milligram amount feels weaker lately so Monday I'll step up to ten milligrams.

I began this back on the 22nd of January. Come Monday I'm increasing to 10 milligrams because the current 8 milligram amount isn't as effective anymore. With the Triz I'm dealing with, there's no steady ache or similar. Instead there are brief spikes of discomfort that don't last and then disappear. Still, everything feels okay and I think the benefits make it worthwhile.

I got going on January twenty two and plan to increase to ten milligrams Monday because the eight milligram level has become less effective. Taking triz.

My treatment began on the twenty-second of January and this marks the initial sign. It appears to be flatulence or perhaps something unrelated to that medication. Monitoring the situation still makes sense though.

Symptoms only showed up after I raised the amount. Smaller quantities barely caused anything except getting sick that single time right after beginning. Queasiness shows up now and then too though it fades fast.
