Retatrutide dosing schedule for fat loss and whether to taper off at the end

Users share personal Reta experiences starting at 0.5 mg and titrating slowly while tracking appetite suppression, weight loss, and side effects. Some prefer staying at low steady doses that work, others plan to taper after reaching goal weight, and a few report stopping without issues. Side effects discussed include fatigue the day after injection, dehydration, cold sensitivity, and minor heart-rate shifts, with responses varying widely between people.

6’0 male, 243 lbs at 21% body fat. Goal is dropping 20-25 lbs. Does this schedule look okay or should I just stop cold turkey instead? Week/dose: 1/.5 mg, 2/1 mg, 3/1.5 mg, 4/1.5 mg, 5/2 mg, 6/2.5 mg, 7/2.5 mg, 8/2.5 mg, 9/2 mg, 10/1.5 mg, 11/1.5 mg, 12/1 mg

What peptide? I’m guessing Reta but it isn’t stated.

SlowFenwick21archiveApr 28

Same here, no peptide named. I haven’t seen anyone else step down like that. Not saying it’s bad though, could actually be a useful case study. What made you decide to taper? Any reports of problems stopping abruptly?

PlainFenwick10archiveApr 28

Can you add more background? Planning to use it only short term?

BrightAnchor19archiveApr 28

I’ve read about people using maintenance doses once they reach their target weight.

Yes, short term. I think I can reach my goal in three months. I’m consistent at the gym five days a week with no workout issues. The real problem is constant hunger and snacking. Been on Reta two weeks at .5 mg then 1 mg. Food noise is already gone, I feel full after meals, and no interest in sweets. So should I stay at a steady dose or taper toward the end of the cycle?

SlowBramble13archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @GreenAnchor68

Correct, Reta. I found mixed reviews on dosing but not much on how people stop. Tapering makes sense to me but I have no idea. Week two now, started at .5 mg then 1 mg. No side effects so far, feel good, already down 6 lbs and 1% body fat.

My wife and I are on week one starting at 0.5 mg. Wow, six pounds lost in two weeks is great!

BlueKettle52archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @SlowBramble13

Just started my own reta run. The drug hits me hard. Based on your schedule I’m only using 1 mg a week and don’t see a reason to go higher. Week three now and it seems to be getting stronger even at the same dose. No food noise, no hunger, no cravings, eating 1,500 calories with plenty of protein and daily workouts. If you’re similar, maybe stay at a steady dose unless the effects fade.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

My first .5 mg pin gave a slight headache and some constipation, but my wife had zero side effects.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

Interesting, never had headaches myself. After pinning I’m extremely fatigued the next day, then back to normal. That’s the only side effect so far.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

Interesting. My wife woke up feeling energized. I didn’t notice any energy change.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

Do you work out daily? After a heavy leg day plus an hour of stairs I’m still not tired and stay energized. Only the day after pinning do I get that weird fatigue. Overall energy has been high and stable since starting reta. Without it on 1,500 calories I was ultra hungry and drained.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 5

Not every day, three or four times a week. Before pinning I was doing muay thai three days a week but heard reta can raise heart rate so I’m pausing those classes until I see how my heart rate responds under heavy load. For now it’s home workouts: jump rope, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, dumbbells, and bag work. Normally I feel energized after training, but a hard class leaves me drained for the rest of the day. I’ve also heard reta boosts energy from higher metabolism.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

Yeah, reta raises heart rate because it increases resting energy expenditure. Not sure if that carries over to heavy exercise like muay thai or lifting. I think it mainly lifts overall and resting beats per minute due to the glucagon effect.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

The glucagon effect is interesting. What are you doing at the gym? Notice any heart-rate changes that worried you?

SlowBramble13archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

I do metabolic conditioning four days a week and wear a heart-rate monitor. Haven’t seen any changes during workouts. Resting HR was 60 and over the last five days dropped to 52. Kind of weird.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 5
↳ replying to @SlowBramble13

Sounds like you’re getting even fitter!

BlueKettle52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

Gym work is just a push-pull-legs split. I can feel the glucagon effect. Earlier this year on 1,500 calories without reta my sleep was good, but now back on 1,500 with reta sleep quality feels off. I’m more tired before bed and sleep longer, probably because metabolism is up from higher beats per minute. No heart-rate concerns though. Overall metabolism feels faster, appetite is gone, which is great.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @SlowBramble13

Makes sense the resting rate dropped as you lose fat and lean out. That’s what I’ve noticed too. Cardio feels much easier now that I’ve dropped weight. Treadmill or stairmaster is like easy mode and I can stay on longer.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

More sleep means better muscle recovery. Sounds like positive effects. Second day on reta and I’m falling asleep earlier, which I like. Woke up a bit lethargic today but I’m also taking 10 mg melatonin and 500 mg magnesium glycinate. Might cut the melatonin in half. Good to hear you had no heart-rate worries. Cheers.

QuietSignal61archiveMay 6

These doses always seem high to me. I started at 0.5 mg, added another 0.5 every two days until reaching 2 mg weekly, then stayed at 1 mg every three days for a month, now 2 mg every three days. Wouldn’t need as much if hunger and food noise weren’t so strong. When people report strong sides at 0.5 mg I wonder about their nutrition. First 0.5 mg dose gave muscle twitching, skin sensitivity, heightened smell, and a few other things, but only the smell change stuck around along with the expected appetite suppression and sickness if I overeat.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

I’m looking forward to cardio getting easier. My calves are massive so even three minutes of jump rope sets them on fire when I’m carrying extra weight. Running also bothers my knees with the extra pounds. Losing abdominal fat should help my back pain too.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @QuietSignal61

People react differently. My wife’s sides so far have been positive: more energy and better mood. Mine were a slight headache and fatigue, which surprised me since I just got TRT pellets ten days ago. Seems I’m more sensitive to reta than she is. On the plus side we both already have appetite suppression and less food noise. She’s moving to 1 mg in week two. I’m still thinking about staying at .5 another week. Supplementation isn’t an issue for me; I eat clean, take my vitamins, and stay on top of water and electrolytes.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

Thanks. 9:30 p.m. is staying up late for me, I’m usually out by 8. Does melatonin help? I’ve also heard of DSIP for sleep but still need to research it more.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

Yeah, cardio becomes effortless. I can stay on the machines forever. Before reta I’d get so hungry on them. Now I have max energy, sweat like crazy, but no fatigue or hunger to make me stop. If running hurts your knees, try incline treadmill at a moderate pace like I do.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

Melatonin works well for me in gummy form. About ten minutes after taking it I’m asleep unless I’m on my phone or have the TV on. It’s also a strong antioxidant. I play rain sounds to signal bedtime and use blackout curtains because less light improves sleep quality.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @QuietSignal61

I just pin 1 mg once a week. Seen plenty of people dose every two or three days like you. Does splitting it make a difference? The single 1 mg dose works fine for me; I don’t feel the need to re-pin midweek, but everyone’s different.

QuietSignal61archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

I use it purely for appetite control. The idea that weekly dosing keeps receptors sensitive isn’t true. Dose every three, five, or seven days as it feels right. Half-life is six days. If appetite weren’t an issue I’d probably dose every five or six days for steadier levels. The main benefit of every-three-days is keeping hunger down. I get very hungry again four or five days after a dose. Since going to 4.6 mg weekly the hunger has actually been harder to manage. Mostly a discipline thing on my end, but it makes me consider adding cagri or tirz.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

Yeah I do the same: pitch-black room and a noise machine, plus keep the room cold. I fall asleep fast because of the early workout and fatigue. Only issue is getting up to pee a lot; I need to stop drinking so much water but can’t because reta dehydrates me so I’m chugging all day. Are you guys getting dehydrated too?

BlueKettle52archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @QuietSignal61

Wow, that’s an aggressive loss rate. I’m at 1.5–2 lbs a week, sometimes down to 1 lb as I get leaner. Crazy that your appetite came back strong while I still have zero hunger or cravings after three weeks on just 1 mg. What’s your starting weight, current weight, and goal?

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 6

Yeah my lips got dry and my legs looked ashy, so I've been downing electrolyte drinks nonstop and hitting the bathroom frequently. Seems like my system is adjusting to the reta though, feeling fine this afternoon with no effects at all.

QuietSignal61archiveMay 6

Sticking with it matters most. Haven't dropped anything this past week since appetite kept winning out, and without gym access I'm just doing cardio to keep things moving. My personal life is pretty empty and I'm out of work too, so both the early gains and this stall tie back to that somehow, lol. Wouldn't mind that kind of issue. Appetite control worked best for me around the three-week point at 2.3 mg weekly. Started at 236, now sitting near 217. Six-foot white male. Aiming for 185, but once I near 200 or the suppression fades I'll need to change things up and find gym access. Not very driven and weak on discipline, so this whole thing is tough. Appreciate you asking about my favorite subject.

I notice chapped lips along with heavy intake of mineral beverages usually signals low fluid levels. Sharing what clicked for me on this topic: any drink falling short on potassium content per container feels pointless. Fresh coconut liquid stands out as a strong option for that mineral, and sodium intake tends to be fine for most people already. To skip the trial and error I grab a powder delivering a full gram of potassium, which hits the useful range without crossing into risky territory. Daily needs hover near four grams total. I stir table salt into these mixes myself every morning. A modest dash dissolved in water right after waking handles the bulk of my mineral balance and often outperforms pricey flavored versions. The taste should register as clearly salty yet far from ocean strength. That counts as my first serving. Anything under two hundred milligrams of sodium falls short for proper rehydration. Most days I eyeball a big shake of regular salt with the potassium version in roughly a one to three mix. Downing that blend means I hardly ever reach for extras later unless heavy sweating occurs. Picking up this detail has made a real difference for me.

I'm not overweight, actually fairly lean with decent muscle. 1.82 m tall, around 78 kg, sitting near 14 % body fat. The issue is fighting food noise takes a lot. I can easily eat 5000 calories a day without feeling bad, so I started Retatrutide for a small cut. Began April 23 with 0.5 mg. Three days later on the 26th took another 0.5 mg after noticing a slight appetite dip that faded fast. Then April 29 took 1 mg, and last Sunday did 1.5 mg. Five days after Sunday I'm planning to go to 2 mg. Feeling pretty good on the cut now. Still have food noise but it's easier to manage. Biggest change is digestion: meals take forever to process so I stay full longer than usual, and my body handles carbs better as pre-workout, sometimes even with an intra maltodextrin drink for steadier power.

SharpSignal83archiveMay 6

My plan was to ease in by holding the starting dose steady for a full month before any increase. Only twenty or thirty pounds need to come off. After reaching the target I figured I could ease the dose back down over time if the results held steady. Hearing so many others describe faster jumps has me second-guessing whether this approach is sensible.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 6
↳ replying to @SharpSignal83

Your reasoning seems sound to me. From what I've seen online folks often begin with smaller amounts check how well it works look out for any unwanted reactions and tweak things accordingly. Update turns out that's exactly what titrating means haha I just searched it.

My lips feel dry too these days. The reduced calories each day seem to have me feeling chilly very quickly. I suspect this cold might explain the dehydration we both experience, leaving lips dry with that ashy sensation on skin everywhere. These days I apply lotion all the time.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 7
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

Though I've only just begun, I sense a bit more warmth without reaching any uncomfortable heat. At this stage I don't believe dehydration is involved since my urine color is like straw, indicating good fluid levels. Additionally moisturizing my skin and lips happens two times each day.

yeah that sounds like the kind of issue anyone would welcome. sticking with the routine will get you there for sure. my own reading on the device comes in around eleven percent though i doubt how precise those things really are, and lately i notice veins popping up all over like some kind of specimen. the way the hunger stayed down around week three lines up with the six-day half life, since repeated weekly shots let the levels climb and the effect strengthens. plus it seems like the impact grows stronger the more weight drops off, almost as if the same amount spreads through a smaller frame. i also found myself needing to lift and focus on protein so the muscle does not disappear along with the fat. you have my support here, just stay steady and the target will come. 💪💪

CopperCompass18archiveMay 7

I looked up the dosing guidelines online for that compound and followed them. Then I changed over to the other one since the cravings for food were intense with the first and my weight actually went up by several pounds instead of down. I skipped any gradual reduction and moved directly onto the new one at the level for week four. Surprisingly, it caused me no trouble at all and those urges have decreased significantly. Weekly bumps of half a milligram don't add up to much anyway. There seem to be multiple different schedules available for this unlike the others, so I chose the one that suited me. Since I had no plans to switch, there was really no reason to slowly lower the amount before quitting because stopping suddenly won't cause any harm.

SlowMarble44archiveMay 7

I began with a single milligram just to test things out. Plenty of others found that amount worked fine without any need to increase, so I went by how I felt instead of mapping everything in advance. I kept the smallest amount that did the job and only raised it once it felt necessary.

BlueKettle52archiveMay 7
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor19

I'm puzzled about my situation since my urine looks transparent from all the fluids I'm taking in, yet my mouth and throat dry out fast whenever I pause sipping for even a short while, leading me to drink continuously all day long. It seems like I'm getting enough liquid, but perhaps another issue is at play. These symptoms appeared only once I began using that.

SlowMarble44archiveMay 7
↳ replying to @BlueKettle52

Feeling chilly shows up regularly for me as a reaction, though it appears then disappears, standing out clearest early on.

BrightAnchor19archiveMay 8

Today marks my second injection of half a milligram, coming four days after the first one. Feeling fine this afternoon without any reactions prompted me to go for it, especially since the weekend allows time to handle whatever might come up. 👍🏾
