Extreme Fatigue on Reta

9 replies8 peopleJun 23, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Why does Retatrutide cause extreme fatigue and what helps reduce it?

Several users on Reta report constant tiredness and needing long naps despite 8 hours of sleep, with some linking it to low calories, fast dose increases, or blood sugar changes. Common suggestions include eating more carbs or protein, splitting doses, adding electrolytes, and waiting for the body to adjust after a few months. Others mention supplements like NR or changes in sleep patterns and caffeine helping them feel more refreshed, while one notes fatigue eased once past 3mg.

Is anyone else dealing with really bad tiredness while taking Reta? I've been on it roughly four months now and at 5mg for the last six weeks. I'm exhausted constantly. Even with eight hours of sleep I still end up needing a three-hour nap on weekends. I'm nearly nodding off at my job and it's driving me crazy. Any peptides that might help fight this kind of fatigue?

Have you been getting enough calories and carbs? Adding more bread helped me somewhat with similar tiredness from tirz before. Electrolytes are another frequent recommendation, whether from drinks, certain foods, or even protein shakes.

How many calories are you eating each day? Sounds like you might be running quite low.

Besides increasing calories, breaking the dose into two shots per week sometimes eases the sides and tiredness. More peptides can be tried but something like hormone support seems likelier to work in my view, even something simple such as boron to raise free testosterone. Getting in a bit more activity throughout the day also tends to cut down on the GLP fog and fatigue, though it usually takes small steps at a time.

My own tiredness was awful until I reached about 3mg and sometimes felt like narcolepsy. It eventually faded. Maybe the dose went up too quickly for you. Getting enough protein each day makes a difference. I use NR and methylene blue in the mornings and that stopped the afternoon crashes for me.

What is your age, starting weight, and how much have you lost so far? Any other sides from reta? How is your hunger and daily calorie total? Overall health? Could this be something else entirely? A checkup and basic bloodwork might be useful. This level of fatigue without many other sides isn't that common but can still happen. Losing weight or staying on low calories long term can cause it too. Diabetes is unlikely while on reta but worth ruling out along with low iron. If hunger is low, lowering the dose is a simple first try. Switching to tirz is another option though more people here report tiredness from tirz that got better on reta. Lower dose eloralintide might also be considered since fatigue risk rises mainly at higher amounts.

Some possible mechanisms with reta fatigue according to Gemini, which usually clear up over time except when calories are the issue.

Chasing peptides to offset sides from other peptides feels like a slippery slope. I'm having something similar at 11.5mg of tirz but expect my body to settle once I've been at the top dose for a few months.

Ever since I began with Reta I moved to a split sleeping pattern and grew comfortable with the shorter rests. My tasks run on flexible timing so I just rearrange the video meetings slightly with almost no disruption. Most of my tiredness came from other sources. With type 2 diabetes and a big drop in glucose I paused metformin for a stretch and found the drug itself produced the early-day exhaustion through lactic buildup. I finished several rounds of the mitochondrial compounds and moved from plain B3 over to the riboside version which agrees with me more. Those items ease the exhaustion yet leave the overall sleep requirement unchanged. Coffee use went up noticeably. Being a quick processor of caffeine it leaves sleep untouched while sharpening how awake I feel after each short rest. Tea stopped appealing once Reta started.
