How much protein can I consume at once without it going to waste?

Summary

How much protein can be eaten in one sitting without waste when using GLP-1 drugs that reduce appetite?

Total daily protein matters most and 125 g is usually sufficient for most people. A large morning bolus from powder helps hit targets when appetite is low and also improves satiety. Frequent 30-40 g servings may be slightly better for muscle protein synthesis but the advantage is small. Adding fat to the shake can further aid fullness and digestive health.

Whether spreading protein into multiple 30-40 g servings offers meaningful extra benefit over one large dose

Reta has cut my appetite so much that the only reliable way to get protein is a morning glass of milk with three scoops of powder for roughly 75 g, then 50 g from chicken and fish later, reaching 125 g total. Skip the morning shake and I drop to just 50 g for the whole day. It is not the best approach but still better than missing the target entirely.

For most people 125 g is already a solid daily amount. Standard guidance is around 1 g per kg body weight, or 1.5 g per kg of ideal weight while on GLP drugs, so unless someone is quite tall and muscular this level is adequate. Evidence for needing much more is not strong. A big morning serving might mean some of it gets used for energy instead of tissue, yet the same large dose also curbs hunger effectively for many hours afterward.

Same here the powder really helped me out too. Hitting my daily totals would be tough without adding it in.

It depends on how waste is defined. Current thinking is that total daily protein matters more than spacing exact amounts every few hours, and any extra benefit from the latter is small. The approach works well with GLP-1 effects for satiety, especially when a few grams of fat are included from the milk or cheese to support gallbladder and pancreatic health.

I've gotten into using a filtered milk variety that packs six more grams of protein in each serving along with liquid egg whites from a carton so my protein drink gets stronger without extra powder scoops before having two of them.

Most folks benefit from what you're up to. To maximize how your muscles build protein, spreading out doses of about thirty to forty grams every few hours works best. Still, for regular people the overall amount consumed matters more than anything else when it comes to this nutrient.
