Increased Anxiety

Summary

Does Reta cause increased anxiety and will it go away?

Users report anxiety as a fairly common early side effect of Reta that often improves after several weeks to a month as the body adjusts. Some link it partly to elevated heart rate triggering fight-or-flight responses, while others note it can be severe enough to prompt stopping or switching to tirz. Supplements like glycine and NAC are mentioned for mood support, and personal experiences vary from persistent issues to full resolution.

I began Reta on June 16th with a 2 mg dose and have kept to that amount once a week. Has anyone else run into more anxiety or other mental side effects while on Reta? I have been dealing with quite a bit of it, though I cannot say for certain the medication is to blame.

This symptom shows up often enough. For some it gets bad enough that they stop altogether. I think the rise in heart rate is part of what sets it off, though not the only factor. It seems to kick the fight-or-flight response into gear.

This is a common side effect. If you tend to get anxious easily, tirz is probably the better option.

Most of these early symptoms fade after a month or so once steady blood levels are reached, at least for most people. There is always an adjustment period while getting used to any GLP.

There are lots of things people try, but if you have the money and want to test new supplements I recently started glycine and NAC, taken separately though they are sometimes sold together, and I have noticed a strong mood lift. On Reta I never had anxiety bad enough to treat, but I feel generally happier and less foggy at the moment. It is still early and I have seen some supplements lose effect over time, but so far the change is great.

It should improve. Just give it a few weeks. My wife dealt with anxiety when she first started and it disappeared after a few weeks.

I felt that way the first few months, but the anxiety is not as strong now. Even the anhedonia has eased a little. I never experienced higher heart rate and I am up to 6 mg a week now.

As others said, all of this fades. I have nothing left of it now, and I just did my injection this morning.

It's been nonstop issues piling up for me on this topic. So now I need to unplug and step away for a bit.
