This clipping tool works great for me. It severs the point from the barrel, I replace the cap on it, and then place that covered barrel inside a soft drink container.

In my area it's fine to grab an old bottle from the house like one for soap or a supplement mix. All you do is seal the top with tape, mark the outside clearly for needles or medical waste, and drop it in the regular bin. I'd guess the same approach works in plenty of other spots as well.

Just found out about this today. I plan to check if the same rule applies around here in Colorado. That would mean no more purchases of special holders for me. Pairing it with a needle cutter turns one of those big detergent jugs into a permanent storage option I'll never need to replace, since they hold a ridiculous number of trimmed sharps.

Yeah, I've got that model too. Didn't really get much mileage from it since I moved over to pens instead. These days, with how rarely I pull out the syringes, it would take forever to empty the thing, though I still think it's neat.
