Why did my reconstituted NAD+ form hard crystals in the fridge after mixing with bac water?

The original vial started clear but developed fixed crystals after refrigeration on its side. One user identified precipitation and advised against use. Has anyone seen this before or got ideas on what went wrong? Mixed it with 2ml bac water and it looked clear and fine at first. Left it in the refrigerator on its side and a few days later it had these hard crystals that stay put while the water stays clear. Left it out overnight but nothing changed.

A deposit formed at the bottom so this batch is unusable to me.

Yeah that matches what I found. Precipitation usually happens when the peptide loses solubility from changes in its environment. Common triggers are high hydrophobicity making it clump to avoid water, pH near the isoelectric point where it has no charge and is least soluble, concentration too high for the solubility limit, quick temperature shifts, or mixing incompatible peptides. It can form dimers or other aggregates through hydrogen bonds and such.

Pretty sure I moved it from room temp straight into a very cold fridge too fast or it just got too cold. Don't think pH is the issue since I mixed several other peps with the same bac water and only the NAD+ did this.

Better to ask about NAD+ specifically instead of general peptides since it isn't one. It's a hydrophilic soluble molecule that can handle a crystallization cycle and has a wide pH tolerance. Try a gentle shake to see if it dissolves. An ultrasonic cleaner works too if you have one, just don't submerge the cap.

Got a 1000mg vial that developed small crystals after using 5ml bac water. Fridge runs pretty cold. Not buying more of this stuff though since it doesn't do much for me anyway.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into NAD+ specifically and try shaking it back to life. I still have nine more in the kit if this one is no good.

Curious what size the NAD+ is, 100-500 or 1000mg.

It's 1000mg. Realized I didn't add enough bac water and went from room temp straight into a cold fridge, both of which can cause this. We live and learn.

I agree, I was tired while reconstituting several different vials and messed this one up. It's also 1000mg and I went from room temp into a very cold fridge. So I caused my own issues. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them.
