People who switched from Tirz to Reta, how are you finding it?

Summary

Experiences switching from tirzepatide to retatrutide and whether people prefer one over the other

Users report mixed results after switching. Some like the reduced constipation and ability to eat more normally while still losing weight, but others experience ongoing hunger, water retention, or weaker appetite control. Inflammation control is often weaker on reta than tirz, leading a few to consider stacking or returning to tirz. Several note that reta requires more time and higher doses to show effects, and a minority report continued weight gain even after months.

I shared a log and update in this thread, though I'm not yet at the highest dose of Reta. Noticed many switching over and was curious if anyone switched back or liked Reta better and the reasons.

QuietLedger55archiveOct 1, 2025

I like reta more because tirz gave me annoying constipation. Reta makes me feel somewhat cold though and I get a bit of allodynia on my arms. I can handle normal meals without feeling overly full and keep losing weight at a steady pace.

I enjoy being able to eat more and vary what I eat with pleasure. On Tirz we had to plan enjoyment days on weekends right before the shot. Now most days I can have something moderate without too much food noise while holding weight steady. Inflammation is still not managed as well though and I might return to Tirz just for that, maybe at a lower dose like 5-6mg a week plus Survo for maintenance. I probably wouldn't have picked Reta for big weight loss based on how Tirz worked for me, but I've never needed very high amounts of Reta either, around 6mg every 6 days and likely moving to 7mg weekly.

SteadyPebble50archiveOct 3, 2025

I've been slowly coming off Tirz after only a month on it before beginning the gradual move to Reta. Started Reta at 1mg on Monday Wednesday Friday then lowered Tirz to once a week at 7mg while keeping the overall 10mg load from before. Now at 2.2mg Reta on those days plus 3mg Tirz on Saturday. Will probably settle at 3mg three times a week on Reta alone if it feels okay. Seeing steady 1.5-2lb loss each week. Planning a Dexa scan at the end of the month to check visceral fat changes. Also stacking Tesamorelin so between that and Reta I expect decent VAT reduction but will confirm later.

I think this is behind a lot of my issues. I've got some water retention, mild lower back pain and swollen ankles. Nothing major but enough that I want to address it. Is there anything I can add to Reta or would switching back to Tirz be the better choice? I didn't have serious sides even at the top dose but it was becoming very costly.

From what I've read, the anti-inflammatory benefits come from GLP1 agonists rather than GIP or glucagon. Reta has much less of that compared to Tirz. You could add Sema to Reta if stacking same-receptor peptides feels okay, or pair Survo with Tirz as some call it ghetto reta, or try Cagri and similar options. There are quite a few choices including Maz.

I tried one injectable for thirty days at the starting level and found the cost too high. At that point I also began using another compound weekly at a minimal amount. Everything was fine until the previous weekend when I ended up in the bathroom nonstop for three days. It seems the impacts had built up. I might use what's left in the original pen after waiting seven days before increasing the newer one to twice the amount. The low amounts are working well for controlling hunger and reducing body fat.

WryCompass39archiveOct 4, 2025

I'm currently at 8.5mg tirz every five days along with 2mg on the same schedule and will soon reduce the tirz while increasing reta.

AmberMarble84archiveOct 4, 2025

I switched only three weeks ago while lowering tirz at the same time and raising reta. Food noise is tough on reta. Tirz is still my preferred option but high doses at 10mg brought too many sides. I did break my stall though so weight is moving again and I'm fairly happy right now.

By the way I'm also stacking some cag at 0.25mg and it's amazing for appetite.

PlainKettle47archiveOct 10, 2025

I'm still gaining on Reta and don't feel like I'm eating that much yet I'm hungry constantly. Seriously thinking about going back to tirz.

GreyWillow80archiveOct 12, 2025

Switched from 15mg Tirz after a long plateau to Reta three weeks ago. Net gain of 1lb from starting weight after those three weeks. Increasing to 4mg this week.

I began with Wegovy then moved to Zepbound until insurance raised the starting BMI requirement to 32 and I no longer qualified. Bought some Reta instead. Never felt nauseous but it made me feel strange overall. Not sure if it was from supplements or other medication but it just felt off. Went back to Tirz but it's not working as well this time and I'm unsure why. Considering adding a midweek bump of Reta to see if that helps.

When restarting you usually need higher doses to feel the effect because the brain remembers. You can increase faster than a first-time user but it should still work well, just at those higher amounts.

Literally the same for me, all of it.

I was doing some forum reading because I enjoy hearing others' experiences and came across your post. I take RT and stack it with KPV daily. I also cycle on and off GLOW plus the TB/BPC/KPV combo which quickly reduces inflammation. Might be best to stick with KPV alone if tumors run in the family due to angiogenesis concerns.

I'm trying to give Reta more time. Everything I've read indicates it takes time to increase the dose and achieve appetite suppression after coming from Tirz. I was at max Tirz but started TRT a few months ago at age 48 due to very low levels and bad symptoms, not cycling or anything. Knowing the transition to Reta would be rough from my reading, the health benefits and apparent synergy with TRT still appealed. I've been stacking some sema at the start and it's turned into an odd pattern of constipation at night then the opposite in the morning with normal periods during the day. Appetite suppression remains light even with the sema and I still have 40lbs to lose, though I've also begun weight training for the first time in years which might affect how well suppression works. I'm fine with holding steady on weight loss for a while if it means trading fat for muscle and building a routine. I decided to stop the sema for a couple weeks.

BlueWillow27archiveOct 18, 2025

Yeah the Reta needs more time to reach appetite suppression but its lower side-effect profile makes it worth it for me. I'm also 48 and have been considering TRT but haven't looked for a forum on that here yet. If there isn't one we should probably start one since I hear many guys stack it with Reta. Catch you on the next thread.

I put on some pounds when switching over, though after a while that option started working as intended and let me enjoy meals more than the previous ones had. These days I'm using the alternative because my plans call for stopping and restarting it repeatedly over the next stretch, and the longer buildup period makes the first choice a poor fit for that pattern. I'll switch back to it once my schedule has fewer occasions that require toggling the peptide on and off.

KeenBramble97archiveOct 18, 2025

Did you give it several months? It needs time to work its magic.

I've been on reta since June and am currently at 10mg a week. I've gained around 12kg during that period with weight still rising almost 1kg weekly.

Ouch. Maybe reta just isn't for you. Get up to the top dose and see what happens, and if not perhaps switch away. I gained some weight during the changeover but not that much and it leveled off after about two months before starting to drop.

I was also on a high dose of Tirz, higher than you. I was able to titrate up on Reta fairly quickly to 12mg a week, probably because of the prior Tirz. Reta works well and pounds seem to be coming off, though with a slight rebound this week. I titrated quickly but I'm not suggesting anyone else do the same, just sharing for the record.

GreyWillow80archiveOct 20, 2025

Thanks, that helps. I'm really trying to stay hopeful about Reta so it's encouraging to hear it took high doses near 12mg before things started moving. I hope the same happens for me soon. For what it's worth I'm disappointed Reta hasn't worked so far because I was hoping for a long-term low-dose steady approach. Stayed the same this week and can't seem to break the plateau. Heading up to 6mg on Friday. I wondered if the 5mg creatine I was taking might be interfering so I stopped it. I also take an insulin sensitiser called inositol that my endocrinologist recommended and it helps regulate my hormones better than anything else. No one can say whether it might be working against the medication, at least not doctors or pharmacists. Stopping that this week to check.

Repeating actions that fail just leads to more failure. This stands out as the best aspect of deciding on my personal remedies.
