Severe anhedonia with peptides

7 replies8 peopleMay 28, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Can peptides like BPC-157, TB500 or retatrutide cause anhedonia?

Multiple users report sudden emotional flatness and apathy after starting BPC+TB500 or GLP-1 agonists such as retatrutide and tirzepatide. Several link the effect to dopamine changes, with one noting relief from Semax and others trying dose reductions. Individual susceptibility appears to vary, and one user questions whether external stressors play a larger role.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

One participant suggests the anhedonia may stem more from current world conditions than from the peptides themselves.

Nothing here is advice.

I just began using the BPC and TB500 mix because of an injury, and now I'm dealing with anhedonia – no emotions, feeling apathetic for several days. This same issue hit me a while back with retatrutide, so I figured it was only that one. But checking Reddit shows others have had it with the Wolverine stack too. Maybe I'm just susceptible to it. Anyone else run into this?

The only time I've had this was with Tirzepatide, and even at a low dose of 1.5. It started showing up at 2.5, so I lowered it due to that plus stomach problems. Anhedonia sucks, I've dealt with it previously. I think low dopamine is behind it. Maybe try Semax to offset it – that worked for me alongside the Tirz.

I should check into this more, since I haven't come across it with other peptides either. Anhedonia does hit me on Tirz, and nothing I've tried really counters it. It's tough to start tasks, but once I get going I usually feel okay about it. Lost pleasure in lots of stuff I used to enjoy. Hoping it gets better now that I'm at goal weight and reducing the dose.

I usually claim no sides from Reta, but maybe this is one. Been a bit low lately, which I mostly put down to gaining weight and confidence taking a hit. Libido's been way down the last year, and worse since starting Reta. Considering checking testosterone, but in Belgium they ignore it unless it's really bad. Not sure if starting T is wise anyway. Tiredness is constant, but that predates Reta. Weight loss has helped some, at least giving me energy to run again.

For myself, I'm probably feeling more down lately because of the peptides... Though it suits me since I tend to run high energy to the point of distraction. I don't get depressed or really sad, so this calming effect feels like a plus from the peptide routine.

Reta impacts dopamine levels. That's why it's aiding with drug addiction and alcoholism. Probably hits some people harder than others.

Makes me wonder how much of that anhedonia comes from the world being messed up these days?

After going through a bunch of user reports, it looks like a small percentage of folks can get pretty bad anhedonia from BPC 157 or TB500 or the combo. Watch out with them if you're affected.
