Summary

best needle length and gauge for subq reta and ghk-cu injections without hitting muscle

Users recommend 4-8 mm needles in 30-31 gauge for subq delivery of these peptides. Shorter lengths reduce the chance of accidental IM placement while longer ones within that range feel more comfortable for some. Bending risk rises with thinner or longer needles, and site choice matters for reducing sting with ghk-cu. IM is not required for reta.

I finally ordered reta and ghk-cu after years of the same issues. I've looked through lots of threads on needle sizes but want a direct answer on whether 4 mm, 6 mm or 8 mm works best for these. Some say 4 mm feels sharper with ghk-cu. My main worry is going intramuscular by accident. I'm not great with needles but plan to push through. At 6 foot 210 lbs and 27 % body fat I have some padding but still want to know if people just stop short of full depth or pick a certain length. Gauge-wise I'm leaning toward 30 or 31 to avoid breakage while still being thin enough.

For ghk-cu I use 30 g 8 mm in the lower glute because other spots sting for hours. Everything else I do with 30 g 4 mm. Gauges from 29 to 32 feel about the same to me, though 32 g can twist too easily and may struggle with thicker solutions.

You probably wouldn't notice a 27 g at all so the sharpness isn't the real issue. The bending risk is higher with longer 30-31 g needles. I'd stick with 30 g or thicker up to 27 g for better strength, especially since these are water based. Anything past half an inch starts feeling flimsy. I once tried a 31 g half-inch around the love handle area with ghk-cu and it bent ninety degrees after withdrawal, leaving a blue lump under the skin.

I disagree with the previous post. With extra fat a 4-8 mm needle is unlikely to reach muscle anyway, and stopping short of full insertion makes it even less likely. Those lengths are intended for subq use, while 4 mm is more for Botox. High body-fat users trying 4-8 mm for supposed IM peptides are not actually reaching muscle.

This is one of those cases where ChatGPT actually helps. I entered your height weight and body fat and it suggested 25 g needles for IM, though 27 g versions exist too.

You also don't have to inject reta intramuscularly. I use 31 g 8 mm for glp-1 type peptides.

I may have misread the original post. It sounded like the goal was subq and the worry was accidentally going too deep into muscle. If that's right then we agree: 4-8 mm lengths stay in the fat layer.

If you can pinch the skin easily you probably won't hit muscle. On the other hand if you aren't carrying much extra weight you might still end up with stretch marks or loose skin unless you're older.

That's exactly what I meant, thanks. I was mainly concerned about landing between too shallow and accidentally going intramuscular. The glow/klow mention was useful too because a friend suggested ghk-cu for stretch marks and loose skin after I mentioned my history. I'm fair skinned so I scar easily and that makes me interested. I'm also only 22 and have gone through big weight swings from being overweight down to very lean with an eating disorder period in college.
