Need Advice For Reta dosages

Summary

how to adjust reta dosing when weight loss stalls after initial progress

The original poster shared a detailed dosing log starting at 1 mg weekly and rising gradually to 5 mg, with strong early loss of about 10 kg followed by a long plateau. Others advised slow titration, splitting doses to reduce sides like skin pain and dizziness, tracking calories, adding strength training, and considering that early loss includes glycogen while later stalls are common. Several noted that 2.5 mg is still low and that splitting injections can smooth levels without raising peaks. The thread shows continued slow progress once the dose reached 4-5 mg despite side-effect limits.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

whether higher peak levels from single weekly injections are needed for best fat-burning effect versus splitting for tolerability

Still open

exact calorie intake and whether further progress will resume without raising dose past side-effect threshold

Nothing here is advice.

Started with 1 mg the first two weeks at 110 kg, then 1.5 mg for the next two while dropping to 100 kg, then 2 mg for two weeks down to about 97.5 kg, and stayed at 2.5 mg from week 7 onward with weight moving only from 97.3 kg to 96.3 kg. Cut out sugar, bread, sweets, alcohol and juices while also eating smaller portions. After the first month the scale barely moved for four weeks. Wondering whether to raise the dose or stay at 2.5 mg long term.

New to this myself after one month at 1 mg and moving to 2 mg. Research suggests month one at 1 mg weekly to check tolerance and let levels build, with early scale movement mostly from glycogen. Month two at 2 mg to start seeing fat loss while watching for sides and staying hydrated. Month three at 3 or 4 mg based on how the step to 2 mg went and how fast loss is happening, preferring a slower pace to keep side effects low and leave room to increase later.

You can definitely increase. 2.5 mg is still low. I am at week 12 and using 4 mg every five days.

These medications make a calorie deficit easier but do not create it by themselves. People who also lift weights seem to lose fastest on these forums and the training helps protect muscle. Adding at least one strength session a week plus enough protein is worth trying. Endurance work like running gets mentioned less often.

Your body might just be settling after the quick early drop and could start moving again. After nine weeks with almost no change in the last four, 2.5 mg feels low so I would increase, perhaps stepping from 2 to 4 to 6 to 8 mg. Trials give some dosing ideas. Not sure if you are doing any cardio or resistance work, which matters.

Similar timeline and loss here with no real stalls so far on 1 mg every three days. Daily deficit runs 600-1000 based on weekly average. Tracking calories daily builds the habit even if you do not aim for a strict target, and it gives a clearer picture than dose and weight alone.

My weight loss always comes in big drops then plateaus then another drop. It is rarely a steady one or two pounds a week. In your spot I would probably increase the dose. I began at 4 mg and have gone up to 8 mg by week five but have not lost as much as you did early on.

If going higher does not help much, tirz might give stronger appetite control.

Quick update after more weeks with almost no further loss. Dosing continued as 3 mg for four weeks with weight moving from 97 kg down to 92.5 kg, then 3.5 mg for four weeks to 91.4 kg, then 4 mg for several weeks reaching 90 kg, then back and forth between 3.5 mg and 5 mg with weight now around 87-88 kg and no movement lately.

Thanks for the update. It is useful to see what happens after the early phase instead of only hearing about stalls.

To understand the slowdown it would help to know age, height, general health and current activity level. Total loss of 23 kg over roughly seven months is solid and above average for the doses used. Recent lack of progress could be fluid shifts or a true plateau at this dose. Knowing daily calories, hunger levels and exercise would clarify whether intake has crept up or expenditure has dropped with the lower body weight.

The injection amounts seem to jump around a lot. Not sure how that affects results.

Thanks for the reply. I am 54, 178 cm tall, no gym or muscle, aiming for 76 kg. Diet changed to no alcohol, sugar or bread and I eat twice a day but do not track calories. Went up to 5 mg then back to 4 mg after getting low blood pressure, dizziness and skin pain like sunburn. Injections are every Monday and hunger returns by Sunday.

CopperSignal27archiveApr 14

Sounds like side effects limit how much you can raise the dose. Trying 2.5 mg twice a week might reduce the skin pain and the Sunday hunger while letting you add small amounts like 0.5 mg at a time. The sensitivity often improves after a month or two so you may tolerate a bit more later. You have already dropped 21 percent of starting weight, which addresses the main health risks at your age.

Splitting the dose can really help with sides. When allodynia started around 5 mg I held steady for a few weeks until it eased and found 2.5 mg twice weekly kept minimum levels higher while lowering the peak that triggers the burning feeling. One downside is that some reports link the higher peaks from single weekly shots to stronger fat-burning action.

WryBramble37archiveApr 15

Only three weeks at 2.5 mg so far. The half-life is about a week so give it another couple of weeks before deciding. If nothing moves then try 4 mg for a month and watch for sides. Be patient and trust the scale over how you feel day to day.
