I ran into the same issue and tried it with a couple of different compounds. It turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. For vials I only pull two or three doses from, I'm now trying pre-filled insulin syringes kept in the fridge. No firm results yet. I lost one syringe and that stung.
I saw a video where someone took 2 ml and added it to the first vial, let it dissolve completely, drew that liquid out, then used the same liquid on the next vial and so on until all vials were done. That way you skip the math and can just say four 10 mg vials give you 40 mg in 2 ml total. There might be some filler volume to think about but probably not worth worrying over.
Okay. That's one way to do it. Seems like more work though, going back and forth, or maybe about the same effort as my idea? I'm not great with this stuff remember.
If your dose is 5 mg then the 2 ml at 40 mg you calculated would last about eight weeks, which feels close to the limit for how long the solution stays good.

That version has a reputation for holding up better so a couple extra weeks might be fine. Why not just reconstitute and draw from the vial each time? Using a pen for a shot every few days seems like extra hassle and risk.

That's what I figured. Moving and mixing the liquid over and over feels off somehow. Same end result but doing it the way we both mentioned still seems better. I'll try the procedure tomorrow morning when it's cooler.
