Weight and fat loss peps

Summary

What peptides can be used for weight or fat loss on their own or stacked with GLP-1s, and how effective are they compared to GLP-1s alone?

GLP-1 agonists like tirzepatide and retatrutide are viewed as the primary drivers of meaningful weight loss through appetite control. Other peptides such as tesamorelin are mainly discussed for body recomposition when added on top of a GLP-1, while TRT is noted for supporting results. Standalone non-GLP options are considered limited in effect, with growth hormone secretagogues offering minor muscle-to-fat shifts but no overall weight reduction. Many users prefer staying on a maintenance GLP-1 dose after reaching goal weight rather than stopping entirely.

How well non-GLP peptides like tesamorelin perform for fat loss when used entirely without a GLP-1

Nothing here is advice.

A lot of people I know combine a GLP-1 with extra peptides to get better weight and fat loss. I want to hear what peptides others are using for those goals without any GLP-1, or whether the strongest results always require stacking something with a GLP-1 anyway.

BlueAnchor59archiveOct 1

Tirzepatide is the one I have kept using for fat loss. It has given me reliable appetite control and steady weight drop, so I have stayed on it instead of switching around. Adding other peptides on top is optional; lowering food noise while keeping protein intake and training consistent handled most of the progress for me.

Training and protein intake really are the foundation. Even though my diet and workouts are already solid and I am only at 7.5 mg of tirz with room to go higher, I am getting ready to run a cycle of tesamorelin and then one of 5-amino. TRT has made a noticeable difference when used with the GLP-1. I have thought about trying SLU but it makes me hesitant.

Which GLP-1 are you currently using? What dose are you on and how did you titrate up to it? Where are you in your weight loss progress, including starting weight, current weight, and goal weight? Since you are asking about adding peptides to your existing GLP-1, are you stalled or just hoping to improve results? Are your goals a standard weight loss plan or something that also includes body sculpting and low body fat? There are many different routes and other sections on the site with more targeted info. Tell us more about what you are trying to achieve.

From what I have seen, no other peptides produce meaningful fat or weight loss beyond the GLP drugs and amylin agonists. It took decades of research to develop anything that actually worked without toxicity, largely because the body has roughly twenty interconnected systems protecting weight and appetite. Growth hormone and its secretagogues can shift muscle-to-fat ratio a little but do not reduce overall weight and carry side effects. Tesofensine is one non-peptide option from China with some supporting data and relative safety, though many struggle with dosing because of its long half-life and accumulating side effects; studies showed around 10 percent weight loss.

reta combined with aod and motsc, plus bpc or kpv if inflammation is an issue.

GreenThistle68archiveOct 1

Not a peptide, but TRT.

I was using reta. I reached my target of 185 lbs, stopped the reta, and have kept my weight mostly stable with only a 5-6 lb gain, now sitting at 190-191 lbs. I was mainly wondering whether anyone gets good fat or weight loss results from other peptides without a GLP-1. For instance, can tesamorelin be run by itself or does it need to be paired with a GLP-1?

SteadySparrow75archiveOct 2
↳ replying to @GreyPebble34

Did you plan to regain those 5-6 lbs? Why stop the reta once you hit goal weight? Reaching the number does not always mean you have to discontinue the GLP-1. I just hit my goal and am keeping my current doses. With tesamorelin, many people add it once they are near goal, along with resistance training, while still using some or all of their GLP-1. This lets them eat more protein-focused food without losing scale weight but instead improving body composition by dropping fat and gaining muscle. What are your actual goals?

QuietSignal91archiveOct 2
↳ replying to @GreyPebble34

Once I hit goal I intend to lower my reta dose to 1 mg. It offers health benefits beyond just weight loss.

GreyPebble34archiveOct 2
↳ replying to @SteadySparrow75

My target was to reach 185 lbs and then stop the reta. I travel too often to stay on it long term. I am open to a maintenance dose like some others use, but I also wanted to test how well I can sustain the improved habits and stay close to goal weight on my own. Just experimenting.

Keep in mind that stopping reta may mean it never works the same way again, based on what I have read.

BrightSparrow36archiveOct 2

All the GLP-1s have health benefits separate from weight loss. It seems strange that some people resist a weekly shot that improves several measurable health markers and is simpler and more effective than taking a daily vitamin.

WarmLantern16archiveOct 2
↳ replying to @GreyPebble34

You could use tesamorelin by itself, but I do not see the point. It requires daily injections, was mainly approved for HIV patients, and has more documented side effects than a GLP-1. Most people who run it do so on top of a GLP-1 because the GLP-1 is stronger and better studied.

SharpCinder28archiveOct 2

Never leave the cult. For the reta users who plan to stop, we have info on using 1 mg of reta every two weeks.

I like that idea. I was on 8 mg for maintenance and am moving down to 6 mg today. My weight dropped a bit since last Friday even though I ate more than usual, including a pot pie, and drank quite a bit of beer.

GreenPebble13archiveOct 2
↳ replying to @PlainAlder11

If 8 mg is already your maintenance level, what do you expect 6 mg to accomplish? Do you change doses often during the month?

LevelTimber64archiveOct 2

That mindset is odd to me as well. A lot of people seem focused on finding tricks to lose the weight and then just powering through to keep it off afterward.

BrightSparrow36archiveOct 4

I enjoy staying active and having a full schedule, yet sometimes I wish there was room for simple everyday stuff like picking up groceries. That is why sorting out reliable sleep peptides matters so much to me.

You probably already realize this, but the busy phase with your son will gradually shift and eventually pass. It happens slowly, from learning to walk to heading off to school and then borrowing the car for dates. The time you will spend with your children as adults ends up being longer than the years they live at home. I am happy you are enjoying this stage and can see it clearly. I prefer being older with a bit less going on, and I have good bonds with my grown kids now, though the years when they were small were my favorite.

PlainAlder11archiveOct 4

I did not think so either, that is where I get mine. The prices are the best I have found. I recall those years with three little ones running in different directions. They are now 39, 41 and 42. I guess that makes me old.

WryPebble78archiveOct 4

I think it comes down to the needles. Swallowing a pill feels ordinary since we have done it since childhood, but giving yourself an injection seems more serious.

BrightSparrow36archiveOct 4
↳ replying to @WryPebble78

I had a needle phobia until age 46 and still smoked a pack and a half a day for about twenty years. The needle seems like the better option overall, and it is healthier than a lot of the food that is harming us.

GreyFenwick31archiveOct 4

Once you have built up your supply it becomes fairly straightforward. Finding a reliable source lets you purchase multiple kits, get them checked, and then you are covered for a long time.

PlainAlder11archiveOct 4

I actually look forward to injection day on Fridays. Needles have never bothered me much because I received allergy shots often when I was younger. Four years ago I spent time in the hospital with many IVs and early morning blood draws, so I got used to them. Now having blood taken feels routine. I stopped smoking the same day I went in after forty seven years, and it was one of the best decisions I made, though I do not suggest anyone quit the way I did.

BrightSparrow36archiveOct 4

I am not well off and I enjoy shopping, so maybe that explains it. I really like doing the research and taking the chance on the peptide options.

That sort of thing would demand an entire container brimming with valuable metal.

PlainQuill85archiveOct 4

I definitely have to get my groceries delivered.

My son has gained weight from his medication. He has seen the results I got with GLP1s and is interested, but his fear of needles has been stronger than his wish to lose weight so far. I believe the pill form could work for him since he tends to move slowly with anything medical, so our talks on this will probably stretch out over months. We are still easing into the CPAP he needs but does not use consistently. Did you make a deliberate effort to get past your phobia? He has fainted more than once during blood draws, which has not helped.

BrightSparrow36archiveOct 4
↳ replying to @PatientPebble79

Having a child basically solved it for me. I could not panic in front of him whether he was getting shots or I was. The fear was only about me receiving them, not about others or the animals, since you have to stay calm for them. Then I simply had to stay composed for my child when they were three or four. My first self injection came from realizing I needed a big health change if I wanted to be around longer as an older mom. Could someone else give your son the shot, or could he use a pen? The needle is very small.

Being a regular person, I experienced typical ups and downs raising children just like others, yet enjoyment always featured in our household activities. During the time my children were around four or five years old, I set up a shelter in the garden area and we held an outdoor overnight stay. We prepared sausages over the barbecue fire, and leaving the yard to enter the residence was only allowed for necessary reasons. A playground located in a less accessible spot that was tricky to locate served as our hidden retreat, and the location remained undisclosed to their mother. We visited this concealed spot frequently, turning each trip into a laughter-filled adventure of departing the home without their mother discovering the destination. It held a unique spot in our memories. While I appreciate the grown individuals my offspring have turned into, those early years with the young ones brought immense joy.

Same here on all of that. That is what grandkids are for. I have two sons, two grandsons and four granddaughters. I love them all but I have to say the granddaughters bring twice the fun since I never had daughters of my own.

Blood draws have always caused me to faint, tremble, perspire, and panic completely. Watching is out of the question. No one reacts worse around needles than I do. My original plan called for my partner to give the shot using the tiniest needle around. He was ready to handle that. Once my first package showed up, though, waiting four days for his arrival felt pointless. So I went ahead and did the injection alone. The whole thing still unsettles me on most occasions, but I push through with thirty-one or thirty-two gauge needles that measure six or eight millimeters long. I wish he locates whatever he requires to reach his ideal way of living.

I am glad you have that. When they are little, girls can be especially sweet to a favorite nana I am sure.
