Filtering 'pharma grade' peptides

33 replies12 peopleJul 12, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Do tested or pharma-grade peptides like glutathione and HCG still need filtering?

Participants agree that filtering remains best practice even after full testing because the tested vial is not the one the user receives. Pharma-grade claims are viewed skeptically when the source is overseas, though some users report good lab results without filtering. Cost and effort of filtering are considered low enough that most choose to do it anyway for added safety against particulates or batch variation.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether certain overseas HCG or glutathione products qualify as pharma grade and can safely be used unfiltered.

How many samples from a batch must be tested before filtering can reasonably be skipped.

Nothing here is advice.

For the last several months on this forum I've picked up a lot from experienced members and changed my mind on a few topics. One is how important filtering is, so now I filter nearly every peptide. There are plenty of threads on filtering already, but none seem to answer these exact points. If a peptide has full testing including sterility, endotoxins and metals, is filtering still needed? And for pharma-grade glutathione or HCG, should they be filtered too? I'm currently not filtering those.

Sterility testing might cost more than filtering does.

Tested or not, the safe habit is still to filter. The vial that got tested is not the one you have.

You're right, I hadn't considered it that way. Thanks.

Filtering makes sense mainly when the source might be questionable, which covers most of what we see here. People have different comfort levels with risk. I like the specific questions you raised and will watch for answers. The title could have been clearer to draw more views. The key issue seems to be what actually counts as pharma grade for glutathione and HCG. Sources from certain countries are unlikely to meet that standard.

NorthWillow72archiveJul 12

Product from that country is said to be good and some people inject it without filtering. A recent post listed several versions of HCG from another country and none matched the stated strength. The general view is that items from that country are not very reliable. They would not meet a strict pharma-grade definition. Still, one person has used a version for a year with normal labs.

I found the post you mentioned and it was surprising. What have you been using for that year?

ClearAnchor21archiveJul 12

That's the same product I have. I've only used it for a week so far. I tested testosterone before starting and plan to test again after twelve weeks.

There was a post from a nurse showing a photo of tiny inorganic material that ended up inside tissue. Even clean lab results can miss small bits of glass, rubber or metal from vial manufacturing, so filtering helps avoid that. On the HCG question, was it obtained through a general marketplace or a regular peptide seller? Would you trust the marketplace version and why?

Filtering is clearly the safer choice, yet many people skip it and report no problems. I have some fully tested peptides that I no longer filter because I've gotten lazy, but it would still be safer to filter. Since the cost is low it mostly gives peace of mind even with good test results.

Marketplace sources can work well for tablets and several blood-pressure and other medications have performed as expected. The HCG also worked as intended. The main issue is the number of scammers on the main site, so a trusted seller is needed just like with other peptides. The glutathione came from a different country.

IronLantern24archiveJul 12

I will keep filtering every kit. It only costs about a dollar for extra protection, and a clean test on one vial from the batch does not prove the vials I received are also clean.

NorthQuill51archiveJul 13

It depends on how many vials from the batch were tested. More tests give more confidence that your vial is also fine. These are not pharma products though, and filtering only costs a small amount and a few minutes.

Use the search function; there are instructional videos and a whole section on supplies and accessories.

Do you mean filters that are not individually packed? Which type do you use? I have seen 13 mm PES 0.22 µm mentioned.

NorthQuill51archiveJul 13
↳ replying to @IronLedger10

I was referring to the peptides not being pharma grade. I use the same filter size.

IronLedger10archiveJul 13
↳ replying to @NorthQuill51

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The ones you use are the sterile, individually packed kind, right?

IronLedger10archiveJul 13
↳ replying to @NorthQuill51

Thanks. I'm new and trying to learn the filtering steps. I usually draw from the vial, swap to the filter, then to the needle and into the pen cartridge. Is that the right order?

NorthQuill51archiveJul 13
↳ replying to @IronLedger10

Yes, just use a different needle for the final step.

IronLedger10archiveJul 13
↳ replying to @NorthQuill51

Of course, I missed that part. Thanks for the help. Now I need to find those filters.

Search for peptide filtering videos on the platform; one creator has clear ones.

LevelAlder29archiveJul 13

Check the main filtering thread for most of the details. Endotoxins would not be removed by filtering, only bacteria. Does bac water help with bacteria too? There are many other threads on the topic; use search or the signature links.

ClearAnchor21archiveJul 13

Thanks for all the replies. My conclusions are: even if other kits from the same buy tested well I will still filter everything; HCG from that country is not truly pharma grade so I will look for a different source; glutathione from the other country is probably fine but filtering is cheap and harmless so I will do it; it is funny how much more cautious I have become compared with things I used to do when younger.

KeenThistle61archiveJul 13

A single tested vial does not guarantee the next one is good. Plus filtering is enjoyable and makes me feel like a scientist.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels like a mad scientist while doing it. I might even get a white lab coat.

PlainAlder11archiveJul 14
↳ replying to @ClearAnchor21

You need one of these to go with the coat. I have this model and it works well.

ClearAnchor21archiveJul 14
↳ replying to @PlainAlder11

What a coincidence, I was thinking about getting one while filtering this morning. I saw your earlier photo and was going to ask the name so I could search for it. What should I look for?

NorthWillow72archiveJul 14
↳ replying to @PlainAlder11

I keep my syringes and opened bac water in one of these. I flip the lid open for mixing and dosing then wipe it with alcohol before using it as a tray.

PlainAlder11archiveJul 14
↳ replying to @ClearAnchor21

Try searching this link. That is a good idea for avoiding spills.

ClearAnchor21archiveJul 14
↳ replying to @NorthWillow72

That one looks good. Is the lid attached well enough to carry it by the handle, or does it just sit on top?

NorthWillow72archiveJul 14
↳ replying to @ClearAnchor21

It just lifts off but fits snugly when stored in a drawer.

ClearAnchor21archiveJul 14
↳ replying to @NorthWillow72

I went ahead and ordered it. I will blame you when my wife asks what I bought this time.

If I do not get the benefits I also do not take the blame. You are on your own.
