Adding several vials to pen cartridge

Summary

How to combine multiple small peptide vials into one pen cartridge without messing up the math or stability

The original poster wants to reconstitute several 10 mg vials with 0.5 ml BAC each and transfer them into a 3 ml pen cartridge for 5 mg doses. Replies confirm the math works and one user suggests sequential transfer through vials to avoid calculations. Others note that 8 weeks of solution may be near the limit for stability, that direct vial use might be simpler, and that transferring from individual vials could reduce peptide damage compared with repeated mixing.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether sequential vial-to-vial mixing or adding buffer to each vial then pooling is lower risk for the peptide and contamination

How much filler volume actually changes concentration when pooling multiple vials

Nothing here is advice.

I have a few 10 mg vials left and want to finish them before opening my 60 mg stash. I'll be using a pen with 3 ml cartridges and dosing 5 mg each time. My plan is to reconstitute every 10 mg vial with 0.5 ml BAC and then load the cartridge. Does that make sense or is there a normal way to do it? The math part trips me up though: 0.5 ml times 10 mg times 4 vials equals 2 ml at 40 mg, and 0.5 ml times 10 mg times 6 vials equals 3 ml at 60 mg. Might be obvious to some but I'm not good with numbers.

The math checks out yeah.

I ran into the same issue and tried it with a couple of different compounds. It turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. For vials I only pull two or three doses from, I'm now trying pre-filled insulin syringes kept in the fridge. No firm results yet. I lost one syringe and that stung.

I saw a video where someone took 2 ml and added it to the first vial, let it dissolve completely, drew that liquid out, then used the same liquid on the next vial and so on until all vials were done. That way you skip the math and can just say four 10 mg vials give you 40 mg in 2 ml total. There might be some filler volume to think about but probably not worth worrying over.

Okay. That's one way to do it. Seems like more work though, going back and forth, or maybe about the same effort as my idea? I'm not great with this stuff remember.

If your dose is 5 mg then the 2 ml at 40 mg you calculated would last about eight weeks, which feels close to the limit for how long the solution stays good.

It's the other compound but probably the same situation I guess?

That version has a reputation for holding up better so a couple extra weeks might be fine. Why not just reconstitute and draw from the vial each time? Using a pen for a shot every few days seems like extra hassle and risk.

The schedule runs on a three day basis rather than a weekly one.

Your approach of adding buffer to each vial and then moving everything into the cartridge is smarter. Not just because I did something similar, but because it lowers the chance of harming the peptide. It might also cut contamination risk a bit, though I'd need to think that through.

That's what I figured. Moving and mixing the liquid over and over feels off somehow. Same end result but doing it the way we both mentioned still seems better. I'll try the procedure tomorrow morning when it's cooler.
