Loose skin & GHK-CU?

20 replies12 peopleMar 20, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does GHK-CU prevent loose skin during rapid weight loss, and is slow loss or other methods better?

Participants agree age and genetics matter most at 24, with mixed views on whether GHK-CU helps noticeably. Some stress slow loss plus strength training and protein to minimize sagging, while others report loose skin anyway despite using the peptide. Several mention additional approaches like fasting or topicals but note lack of solid proof.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Still working on dropping weight with the current medication. Down more than 10 kg so far and aiming for another 15-20 kg by August to hit 46-55 kg total. Worried about loose skin even though I'm only 24. Would using the copper peptide by itself be enough to help the skin tighten back up, or do I need additional peptides? Current pace is 1-1.5 kg lost each week.

At 24 you should recover fine. Just keep going strong.

Slow and steady approach is good.

Really hoping that's true. Some things I read made me anxious. I'm also planning to add exercise beyond just the medication and eating less. Is 1-1.5 kg per week slow enough? I want to reach my goal by my birthday, but if slowing down helps the skin I can add more calories on average.

Faster than that and muscle loss becomes likely. Focus on plenty of protein and lift heavy three or four times weekly.

SlowHarbour21archiveMar 20

But what about the original question on the peptide?

We simply don't know for sure. That's the reason many stay on the peptide anyway, unsure if it helps or by how much, yet unwilling to quit in case stopping would make things worse. In the end people end up with plenty stocked away without clear proof it works, since there's no matching person losing weight without it for comparison.

After dropping around 30 kg in my twenties over about six months, I would recommend going slower. Rushing led to sagging skin for me. The copper peptide can help, but it's not worth the risk when you can avoid the problem altogether.

Protein intake is high and I'm doing strength work, so muscle loss shouldn't be a big issue. Health problems limit me to one workout session a week right now, so I have to be careful not to overdo it. The daily injections are annoying even if they don't hurt much, and I'm reluctant to stop because of possible loose skin later. So far I haven't noticed much change from the peptide, but without prior skin problems it's tough to tell.

That's disappointing to hear. Thanks for the personal story. Hopefully my genetics turn out better.

The claim that slower loss is better for skin gets repeated often, yet I've found no supporting evidence and don't understand the proposed mechanism. On the main question, research points to lactic acid lotion, microneedling, retinol, and the copper peptide for improving skin thickness and tightness. There's also the idea that fasting promotes autophagy to clear loose skin, with the body breaking down skin when protein is low. No studies confirm this, but it's plausible enough that I'm adding a three-day fast each week while watching electrolytes. Caution is needed with diabetes or gallstone risk. Planning to go a bit below goal weight first to shrink skin further before returning to target.

Slowing the rate of loss is one of the better strategies for avoiding loose skin, though results vary by person. I've used the copper peptide since November while losing 30 pounds and still ended up with some sagging. Can't tell how much difference it made. Building or keeping muscle through workouts during the process would likely have helped more. At your age skin remains elastic, and adding a little muscle can fill things out and reduce excess skin.

Being 24 gives you a clear advantage over someone much older. The copper peptide might assist with reshaping remaining fat and improving skin tone. It leaves my skin feeling nice, but at 61 only surgery would fully remove loose skin.

The team has started practicing direct, low-pressure honesty lately and it's refreshing. People admit when they zoned out, acknowledge when an idea grows on them, or ask for quick help without judgment. It cuts down wasted time and keeps things light because the newer members aren't used to that level of openness at work.

Meant to reply yesterday. Wish we could try that style where I work. Sounds great.

We got lucky. The group was assembled quickly years ago with little oversight, so we shaped our own way of working around honesty and safety. It was unusual and we're fortunate the right people ended up together.

LevelTimber64archiveMar 21

Sounds like an ideal setup. Glad it worked out. That kind of trust probably boosts performance. A bit jealous.

Focus on looking good for your 70th instead. Taking it steady builds habits that pay off for decades and keeps you ahead of people who start later. You'll look great on every birthday, not just this one.

Dropped 100 pounds at age 30 by going slowly and doing pilates, with no loose skin at all. Then gained it all back despite having visible abs at one point.
