Was there a recent change in the content filter for this site?

Summary

Has the site's content filter recently become stricter or more sensitive?

Multiple users report a sharp increase in false-positive blocks from the content filter, triggering on short innocuous posts and replies that used to pass without issue. Some members experience it constantly while others posting actively have seen nothing, leading to speculation about per-user settings or a recent switch. A few also mention new moderator-approval messages never seen before.

I used to see this pop-up only now and then. Lately it appears on about half the posts and replies I try to make. Even short one- or two-sentence notes trigger it, which makes no sense. Yesterday I kept rewording one reply over and over and it still wouldn't go through. The text was just a short comment about JEEP not being only an endo issue and mentioning ERP, plus a question about whether something had been removed from a group or another place. It had stayed up for over seven hours and some people there had downplayed it. In the end I posted a picture of the text instead. This morning a different reply about considering TRT with already high testosterone levels went through fine.

Yes, same here. It keeps happening even when what I wrote is completely ordinary and doesn't come close to any rule. I try guessing once or twice which words might have caused it, then I just stop.

SharpThistle74archiveApr 22

Exactly the same thing is happening to me and it's really annoying.

GreenMeadow27archiveApr 22

Yes, I have to rewrite my replies many times, trying five different versions before anything gets accepted. It's definitely frustrating.

SlowLedger42archiveApr 22

Maybe the better question is whether anyone is not running into this at all.

PlainAlder11archiveApr 22

I got hit with it the other day just for saying 'get out your wallets' when sharing some test results people had asked about.

I've been posting quite a bit and haven't seen the message yet.

ClearBeacon24archiveApr 22

Yep, I thought it was only happening to me.

GreenMeadow54archiveApr 22

I used to get both this message and the spam one a lot before reaching Apprentice level, often for no clear reason. Sometimes submitting the same thing several times would flip between the two warnings before finally letting it through. I haven't seen either since, but there is definitely a bug somewhere.

They have the word filter turned up way too high, yet other people are posting the same words I'm being blocked for. I don't even swear much, so it's strange.

Maybe some of you are on a special list for some reason.

It looks like some kind of lightbox script error message got posted by mistake.

I think that's exactly what happened. There might be some internal score that puts people in different groups, and someone accidentally moved us into the strictest moderation tier.

You mean I was selected? I feel so special now!

I bet there are several reasons. The more chicken embryos you find, the lower you rank on the list!

Just a few days ago I hit it on six attempted posts in a row. Nothing in them referenced anything prohibited. Someone with a sense of humor can turn every '3GG' into 'Chicken Embryo,' yet a plain reply to a question gets blocked. Side note: it's not an embryo anyway, since store-bought eggs are unfertilized.

GreenMeadow54archiveApr 22

I just got a notice that my last post in another thread is waiting for moderator approval. I've never seen that before.

PatientHarbour23archiveApr 22

Okay, I thought it was just me because I'm still new.
