Tirz curing anxiety?

21 replies15 peopleJan 6, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does tirzepatide reduce or eliminate anxiety symptoms for some users?

Many users report major drops in anxiety after starting tirzepatide, sometimes within weeks, with effects described as life-changing and better than prior medications like Lexapro. Others see little change, temporary relief that fades, or even increased anxiety later. Switching to retatrutide sometimes brings anxiety back for those who benefited from tirzepatide. Effects appear tied to ongoing use rather than a permanent cure.

I began tirz more than two years back after dealing with intense anxiety from a health scare that kept me up at night. Roughly two weeks in the anxiety vanished and has stayed gone at about 99.9 percent ever since. Has anyone else seen tirz wipe out their anxiety, and if they quit did it return just as strong?

It helped a little for me even though anxiety isn't a constant issue. What stands out more is that at 59 and after decades of daily weed use since my teens I finally stopped without the usual irritability. I had quit other habits before but never managed this one until tirz kicked in after the second day. No desire or cravings now and I doubt I'll go back. The medication has improved several areas of my life and I'm glad your anxiety lifted too.

Reading experiences like that gives me some optimism as I prepare to begin reta. Even if part of it is in my head any drop in internal stress would be welcome. I've dealt with different levels of GAD through most of my adult years and while I don't count on the medication fixing it outright feeling physically better from weight loss might help me keep going. You should feel encouraged that things are improving.

Tirzepatide works well for many but I don't view it as a cure for any condition. Current evidence shows it treats metabolic issues like obesity and diabetes plus things such as binge eating alcohol issues sleep apnea and certain addictions. The benefits tend to fade once the medication stops just like weight often returns so anxiety would probably come back too. I've been addressing the underlying psychological and nutrition factors on my own in case I ever have to stop.

Hunger tends to return later in the week but tirz keeps portions small or I pay for it. Not exactly anxiety but I've heard reta can disrupt sleep. Planning to begin a low dose of reta soon maybe half a milligram.

Tirz removed almost all of my anxiety and the same happened for my girlfriend. I moved over to reta to target liver fat and noticed some anxiety returning though not much.

I usually joke about testing anxiety by stealing a forklift at the store. Tirz didn't do much for mine. Haven't tried Selank or Semax. SSRIs and SNRIs work differently from GLPs on neuroinflammation. Trying Pristiq again anyway and exercise has always helped my mind.

Did you switch abruptly or combine the two? I'm currently using both at 11 mg tirz and 4 mg reta with no anxiety so far.

I was on 5.5 mg weekly tirz. First two weeks on reta I used 2.5 mg reta plus 3 mg tirz then moved to 4 mg reta and 1.5 mg tirz. By week four I stopped tirz and stayed at 4 mg reta. Hunger returns quicker and appetite control is decent but not as strong and anxiety relief feels a bit weaker too though still better than before any GLP.

Interesting. I just began testing tirz and lost two pounds the first week. No anxiety change yet but work has been nonstop with reporting and budgets so nothing would calm it right now. Once things ease up we'll see if it helps.

It took a couple of weeks for mine to disappear so it needs time to build up. Hopefully the same happens for you.

My anxiety is down over 95 percent since starting last July. It had been severe for years but now I just go about daily life. Some major stressors also eased during this period so tirz may not be the only factor yet right after the first shot my mind felt calmer and the constant chatter stopped.

PlainAlder56archiveFeb 27

Tirz eased my anxiety and depression for the first couple weeks. Now in week five the past few days both have returned full force and I feel like I'm losing it. Not sure what's going on. Anyone else seen this?

WryLedger88archiveFeb 27

I notice anxiety eases when inflammation drops so that could be part of what's happening.

CopperTimber28archiveFeb 27

I didn't have severe anxiety but felt uneasy in groups and held back from things I wanted to try. Since starting tirz last July that discomfort has disappeared. I feel more confident overall talk to strangers and just feel more at ease without consciously noticing the shift at first. It's been great and I feel like a different person.

Anxiety dropped in the first weeks on tirz but the last two weeks it has increased again and I'm considering medication for it. Only seven weeks in and dose hasn't gone up much so maybe raising it will bring relief back down.

SteadyPebble62archiveMar 11

I used to take Lexapro which helped anxiety somewhat but caused weight gain so I stopped and symptoms returned. After starting tirzep last month anxiety has been lower than with the earlier medication.

Have you tried this stuff? It helps me a lot.

Haven't tried it and hadn't seen it before but I'll order some and check if it helps thanks.

I've seen mentions of people using selank or adalank a related compound for anxiety.

Thanks I like the idea of trying peptides for it. Still on compounded tirz and just starting to look at other options. Once I know more and place an order I'll ask if they carry selank too. Willing to try whatever might help.
