Potential muscle-sparing add-on for tirzepatide discussed in video, but practicality questioned

4 replies5 peopleSep 15, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

What does the video say about muscle-sparing options alongside tirzepatide and are they realistic?

The thread shares a video covering an IV muscle-preserving drug for GLP-1 users that is described as unavailable and impractical, then shifts to another agent already being studied with tirzepatide. Participants note the video drifts into unrealistic territory and express doubt that insurance would cover any new expensive option given current GLP-1 coverage refusals. One user simply states a desire for the combination treatment immediately.

The video talks about an intravenous medication meant to preserve muscle while on GLP-1 drugs, but calls it unavailable and unrealistic to use. It then discusses more realistic upcoming options such as another agent already being tested together with tirzepatide, suggesting future obesity treatments might prioritize keeping muscle and function instead of just dropping the highest amount of weight.

That connection shown under the starting message keeps functioning.

Doesn't seem all that appealing to me because of the steep cost involved. My plan has already turned down similar treatments so approval for this latest version looks unlikely.
